That comes out of Rush Limbaugh's bigot spigot, but in this case Boss Limbaugh's understanding of the raging meatstick GOP base which he has spoon-fed like penned veal for the last quarter of a century is perfectly correct.
David Brooks is not a public intellectual in the business of explaining Big Conservative Ideas as they really exist in the real world: David Brooks is huckster, whose scam is selling the public the poison of Fake Centrism on behalf of a handful of very rich, very insulated political and media elites who continue to pretend that Rush Limbaugh does not exist, that today's GOP is basically the same as it was 50 years ago and that the best way to cope with the lunatic Right that they themselves helped create is to drag a hippie out of their collective unconscious every now and then and punch the living daylights out of him.

[Thanks for sharing the clip. I'd read about it in general, but not heard it first-hand.]
Pooooor David Brooks. Moderately- to moderately+-lefty Driftglass pisses on him. Far right Limburger pisses on him.
BTW, doesn't he deserve a smidgeon of credit for that snarky "from Canada by way of Texas" thing?

I apologize for insulting Limburger cheese.
A perfect summing up; that's going to be hard to top.
I wondered if Rush would be able to get through this rant without using the term "bend over". Not surprisingly, he didn't.
"For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of."
"what in the world is he SPOSTA do?" That schoolyard pronunciation was worth the pain of listening to this fat creep explain why compromise = "bending over".
BTW, Rush is consistent; he's been advising the GOP to NEVER EVER EVER EVER compromise with the Dems for a long long time...
