On Air Tomorrow Was On Air Today

It appears that I will be I was on the radio machine today (08/26/10) -- one of the guests on the Progressive Radio Network News Dissector Program (or "programme" for you Brits) hosted by Danny Schechter at 10:30 EST (9:30 Richie Daley Time).

I'll have my bit up as a podcast as soon as the good people at PRN are done editing out all the "fucks".

The subject was putatively "Glenn Beck", but we wandered far and wide.

Beck claims, instead of a speech, he has only jotted down a few bullet points, just in case, say Almighty God wants to speak through him.

Or something.

Because it would be rude to Yahweh to tell Him to sit His ass down and wait until the Thin White Kook

is done with his fucking 216-slide "Me At Last! Me At Last!" PowerPoint.

Or something.

I, on the other hand, tend to believe that his foreign paymasters and radical right wing handlers have somewhat greater ambitions in mind:

Wolcott, progressive radio, can paying work doing what you love be far behind?

I wonder how good Beck is at Solitaire?

Once, while channel surfing, I jumped from Murder She Wrote to that scene. Disturbing.

This looks a lot like Beck actually spending a great deal of time promoting none other than his own very public meltdown. How can it come off as anything else? Especially with all of his "waiting on God to speak through me" ranting. Is he going start babbling in tongues? Maybe slap a few sick people on the head and heal them? Obviously, his own cut- off level for personal embarrassment is nonexistent. If he achieves any kind of turnout, it will be the usual rabid band of bigots. Does he know that he actually has no control over these people? It's hard to believe his handlers are letting him off the leash for something so public.

Howard Beale - a conscience = Glenn Beck.

Let's hope FOX doesn't intend to re-enact the end of that movie ... I think America won't last long once you start creating "Fair & Balanced Martyrs" for the Dipshit Demographic to worship.

Who is this Zaphod Beeblebrox guy anyway?

Loved every second of it and hope you push them to schedule your next appearance soonest.

Personally, I thought you blew Greg Palast away as far as use of air-time. By not continuously plugging what you're doing, and talking sincerely about their topic within its margins, you came off as the class act that I know you are. It wasn't preachy, it was thick and deep and rich. Simply. Amazing.

And you laughed at me for wanting your autograph? You are getting out there hoss. Even if it's the shallow (friendly) end of the media spectrum, at some point I know you'll break through.

"Excellence in broadcasting" suffered a haymaker today!

I'd like your autograph too...will this blank check suffice as a surface?

:D

Good on you, sir.
