The disheartening sinking feeling - the total letdown from Obama's behavior this week. Well, you two nailed it.

Earlier this week on another site, I commented that I didn't want Obama listening to DLC-Rahm and Axelrod, that I was sick and fucking tired of pants-wetting reaction to Fox and especially - especially! - a piece of shit schoolyard bully like Breitbart. That if I wanted a milquetoast caretaker, I would have voted for Harry Reid for President. I even ended, with apologies to Homer, by saying that a decent boldness by Obama would be ever be met by friends (in his base). Really truly hoping Obama would step up.

And here we are. Fuck.

On the subject of the Bush tax cuts expiring....
Maybe if rather than let them expire, thus 'raising taxes' in the eyes of the idiots, the administration transferred the cuts to the poorest people. The GOP would look more evil than ever for opposing it, it could last 1 year and provide support to the suffering, and while not reducing the deficit, wouldn't add to it either.
(this totaly uninformed off-the-cuff idea brought to you by Steveupnorth! <3)

Obummer's Wall Street masters aren't paying him to "step up", Vic.

... or put the tax money taken from the filthy rich BACK into the Social Security Fund from whence it was stolen. Good by Catfood commission, don't, no- DO let the screen door hit ya.

I'm wondering if Obama isn't a sort of Null personality, one who can be easily projected upon by the masse; or a "chameleon" who takes upon himself the attitudes & traits of those in his presence.

This is the first podcast I've remembered to listen to and it was great. You were evidently telegraphing directly from my brain, only I'm not as passionate. I'm more depressed and discouraged. I need to constantly lower my expectations and then I realize there's a rung on my ladder even lower. Oh, hell.

I wish we were in a bar in Vegas with all the hippies hashing this out. - mac

From a KOS diary:

"Chancellor Michelle A. Rhee announced Friday that she has fired 241 teachers, including 165 who received poor appraisals under a new evaluation system that, for the first time, holds some educators accountable for student growth on standardized test scores"

The diarist thinks this is GOOD. WTF! I feel sick.

Obama's behavior will make sense to you as soon as you realize that he is a conservative.

He's merely not a batshit-crazy shoutycracker conservative.

He had to pretend to be liberal because he began his rise to political power in one of the few subcultures of the USA where professed liberalism actually confers advantages on a candidate.

Also, in a political climate where shoutycrackers, amplified by the Corporate Media, loudly and repeatedly claim the mantle of conservatism exclusively for themselves, quiet conservatives can be mistaken for moderates, or even liberals.

Both of our major parties are conservative parties: the GOP is the Loud Conservative Party, while the DINOcratic Party is the Quiet Conservative Party.
