Obamasochism
Noun: The act of deriving political gratification from appeasing people who want to humiliate and destroy you.
And just in case anyone at the DNC is listening, if the national Democratic Party ever wants a minute of my time, a joule of my energy, a dime of my money or a deibold of my vote again, the request had better arrive on my doorstep pinned to Joe Lieberman's pike-transfixed head and wrapped in an open letter from the President of these United States in which he refers to the GOP as the "flesh eating virus of democracy", Fox news as "Reich-kibble for the cognitively-impaired" and the national press as "meth-tweaked lemmings".

What I don't get is that the fucking republicans can start and sustain bloody, astronomically expensive wars; assrape the Statue of Liberty; hand the keys to the U.S. Treasury to the pentagon and corporate amurka.....ALLL of it with...what? A 53-47 majority in the Senate? and not even that, after 2006...
Yet for some seemingly inexplicable reason, Barak Obama, with a 60-40 margin in the Senate, and the equivalent in the House, had to ask Joe Lieberman for permission to scratch his own ass.

How strange that an email from Tim Kaine asking me to host a SOTU "Watch Party" arrived just as this post went up.
No, Tim. I don't think I'll do that. Know why? Because if a lone wingnut can raise millions of dollars by shouting "You lie!" at a presidential speech, imagine what a bunch of wingnuts emboldened by a bunch of spineless Dems caving to a single Teabagging nude centerfold will do?
I predict they'll actively heckle him. It won't be pretty and I'm not watching.

It hurts at first, but it gets better once you realize that now you know the plain and sober truth.
I disagree. You do not have the issue framed in a proper construct. You depend in your argument on a simplistic Democrat-Republican distinction, when in fact the political split is on a quite different basis.
The real division is between an Enlightened Oligarchy, represented by Barack Obama and around two-thirds of Congressional Democrats, and a Regressive Oligarchy represented by all Congressional Republicans and a third of Congressional Democrats. It is this economic philosophy division that determines who is running government, not the superficial D/R labels.
This is why "Republicans" can effectively rule when they have even a slim Party majority, because their true ruling majority includes a substantial portion of the Democratic caucus. In the obverse, when Congressional "Democrats" appear to be in power numerically they are in fact still in a minority because the Republican+BlueDog coalition of Regressive Oligarchs retains control.
Barack Obama is a basically decent Conservative, as is Harry Reid, while Nancy Pelosi is unarguably a staunch Progressive Liberal. All of them, while of the Enlightened faction, are servant to the Oligarchy because that is how our nation was founded and our Constitution constructed, and The People have not seen fit to change it.
The problem the Enlightened Oligarchs face in trying to do the decent thing, and they are trying, is that Congress is still controlled by a coalition of Regressive Oligarchs. Electing another one to the Senate, a la Brown, does not improve this situation. From a Leftist perspective, it may well make everything worse.
The focus of your ire is misplaced. Approached from the Left, Obama, Pelosi and Reid are our natural allies while the Regressives are our natural enemies. A correct political strategy is to stand by our allies while attacking our enemies. To do the opposite, as you seem to encourage here, is self-destructive folly.
Graham Firchlis is certainly right that we now have 2 imperial factions fighting for power in DC.
And that is why Obama will do nothing to reduce empire abroad and the national security state at home. The environment? Yeah, Obama is generally better. Spying on Americans? Nope.
Well, dg, like the rest of gallery, I'm with you - to a point. Not willing to hold my breath waiting for the political "prize patrol" to show up on my doorstep with balloons and the scalp of Joementum in their belts, begging for my handfulla discretionary sawbucks anytime soon. Add to this the recent single released by the Supremes, and I'm sure that BHO and company will care even less about what I/we/the rest of us DFH's and malcontents of the internets have to say about anything. After all, we got "Merkun Idol" and "Survivor" what else we need, already?

I've had so many clever rejoinders to Paul Begala and James Ragin' Cajun Carville and the parade of DCCC and DSCC and DNC fundraisers . . . about how they can kiss my ass on donations to the Anemic Democrats until they start growing a backbone. Or a pair. Or some ovaries.
