The Long, Slow, Pistol-nacht of the Right

(h/t FireDogLake)

File under: "Guns don't kill people, Conservatives kill people."

Recent American history has seen enough violent, rage-drunk years punctuated with enough bombings and assassinations to prove to anyone who has not had their brains eaten out by Hate Radio is that there is virtually zero moral distinction between the radical mullahs who fill a small number of brown people on the other side of the world with ignorant, aggrieved fury and weaponized holy fire, and then point them at political targets...

...and our very own Conservative Christopathic axis of evil that fill a small number of white Americans with ignorant, aggrieved fury and weaponized holy fire, and then point them at political targets.

Except, of course, our American Taliban don't have to subsist by skulking in caves and smuggling out bad mix tapes.

Because thanks to scum like Rupert Murdoch, many of our American Taliban are given access to the best broadcast technology in the history of the world, and collect multi-million dollar paychecks for puking their hate straight into our living rooms in hi-def.

The Right really does hate us for our freedoms, and as long as the status quo remains unchanged, every one of us on the Left is walking around with a bull's-eye pinned to our back.

Bullseyes on our backs?

I'm not much of a pacifist when it comes to me or my old lady being targeted.

I'll fight it.

But hey, a bullet is a bullet.

And I can't stop that, true.

I'd suggest, it's time to carry the fear and intimidation to their own court. Without actual violence, of course . . .

And then, it sets in. The one's who DO the violence, are dupes. Often deranged, mentally gone from other things.

And it's the puppet masters who pull their strings and incite.

How does one carry the fear, intimidation and battle to THEIR field of play?

They are well guarded, unless their advertisers are wholly targeted . . . and even then. System's broke top to bottom.

Ya see, like the new change, which is NOT focused on creating JOBS for us all, the system is out to grind it all down to them and us, rich and poor.

No inbetweens, no middle class.

That's the change we're getting. And a large part of that change is the 'legitimized' hating of anything left of Phelps and his ilk. Cuz, the games rigged.

Unless the masses rise up and boycott work, boycot advertisers, stop buying products, and hit the streets, we all continue to boil a bit more each day in the pot.

Sigh.

I'd also urge that anytime Phelps, Randall Terry and his ilk, step out of their houses, they are surrounded by hordes of DFH's who hem them in, but let them go where they will.

And at their protests, surround them so thoroughly that they are muffled, but not hurt. Tough love, tis.

Give them no public voice. The airwaves are what they are, but the public space is still ours. Hem them in. Swarm them. Blanket them. Null them, till they go home or we find an island for them all.

Harumph.

What’s the difference between Operation Rescue and the Taleban?

Once again I am struck by how the efforts of the anti-abortion zealots to use violence and threats to intimidate doctors into giving up on abortion services, are perfectly analogous to the Taleban’s effort to intimidate Afghan teachers from teaching girls. Bombing schools, throwing acid in girls’ faces – these tactics would fit in perfectly with America’s religious right.

And as we know, the difference between rightwing extremists in America, and in the Muslim world – Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia -- is merely a matter of detail. The similarities abound: the rigidity, the condemnation of anyone who dares to question or veer away from the most extreme end of the philosophical spectrum, the gangs of thugs they send out to intimidate “slackers”, the non-stop spewing of hate, the bashing of modern culture, the antediluvian views on women’s rights, the fear of modern education, the exploitation of religious ignorance and poverty, even the oil money that props them up. You could put a turban on an Operation Rescue guy and drop him into Riyadh or Tehran or the Taleban and he’d be right at home within six months; put a beard on Billo and he’s Ayatollah O’Reilly (whose fatwa led to Tiller’s death). And in fact the rightwing nuts here and over on the Muslim side feed off each other and exploit each other for political purposes, just like the American cold warriors and the Soviets, just like Bibi Netanyahu and Hamas. They want the holy war that the rest of us don’t want to fight. The real world war isn’t between the Christian West and the Muslims –it’s the modern secularists on both sides, versus the knuckledragging God-freaks on both sides, the real axis of evil.

The scary thing is that our ayatollahs now control one of our two major political parties.

Army of God actually sends me hate mail on a regular basis for my posts regarding marriage equality, and I am a devout Christian. Go figure!

I'm actually reading Frank Schaeffer's book, and I was going to give it to my dad for father's day ... but some of it is rather graphic.

I was in the process of writing a similar post when I saw this pop up in my feed, and what Schaeffer said is true. They do know what they are doing.

I also heard the drive-by shooting at a recruiting station called an act of terrorism, does anyone know what the motivation was of the shooter? He apparently recently changed his name to an Arabic name, but that does not necessarily mean anything.

Your arch nemesis Andy Sullivan has some interesting articles regarding abortion, with accounts of women who were Tiller's patients. Worth a look.

Also, I have several blogs regarding the rise of Christian Nationalism, Army of God, Westboro Baptist Church etc. I figured it would be good if a Christian spoke out on these issues. (Hey, we're not all bigots. ;-))

I just lurve (h/t Woody Allen) Larue's comments.

We have to get organized and broadcast our message of noncompliance with the status quo.

To put it mildly.

Targeted every day.

'Don't forgive them, Father, for they know exactly what they do'

It is apparent to me that any deep-core values Right-wing fundamentalists espouse publicly are easily discarded by them both in private and public deeds where the end for them justifies whatever antisocial behaviors deemed necessary.

The deliberate choice on their part to bookend their bullhorn diplomacy and cynically opportunistic media exploitation with targeted terrorist acts that are then brushed off as the work of 'lone nuts' demonstrates this hypocritical moral equivalence rather handily.

Thank you, D., for giving this domestic threat the attention that it deserves.

You just have to take this people on where ever you run into them. Every once and a while, you get someone to start thinking about the hopelessly tangled ball of inconsistencies.

I once copy and pasted Martin Marty's 8 or 10 common attributes of fundamentalism in a hobby forum I play at, one with a vigorous P&R section that happened to be populated by a bunch of bible thumpers, who are always fun to play with. I asked everyone to state whether they viewed themselves as fundamentalists.

Of course, the self-righteous evolution-denying bible thumpers, mostly me with their forearms stuck in women's reproductive tracks up to their elbows, would deny any connection..."that sounds much more like a towel head than me," would be the typical reply.

Christian fundamentalism, if not the root cause of everything that fractures this land, is surely the main fuel source feeding the fire.

We are mutually incompatible. The culture war can only come to an end one Frank Schaeffer at a time.

Rachel's entire show nailed this issue. Try to watch the entire show. As I said elsewhere, who is really surprised the killing continues by the PRO LIFERS? Not me for sure.

Rachel makes the distinction that there seem to be two wings of the Pro LIfe movement and not all are domestic terrorists. I disagree with that. All belonging to "PRO LIFE" groups are terrorists by virture of supporting the hatred and screeeeeeeeching and attacking and blockading. Neither are they Christians so all claiming that they are lying, stupid, or crazy.

I've had it with these people and their murderous ways. The doctor was within the LAW. I want to see some assault charges brought for every person screeeeeching in a woman's face or blocking a clinic door. This latest act makes those acts threatening. Assult. Let's use the law that we have and get some of them in institutions where they belong.

Oh and bless Frank Schaffer for speaking out and nailing these two faced lying fuckers for the harm they've done to America.

he has been arrested and extradition is underway to get him from new jersey to connecticut for prosecution.

Katha Pollitt has an article in the new Nation tagged thusly:

Anti-Choice Terrorism
KATHA POLLITT | In the abortion debate, only one side murders the other.

SEE:
http://www.thenation.com/blogs/anotherthing/440459/anti_choice_terrorism?rel=emailNation

In case one doesn't get it, the Browser Window is titled:

"Anti Choice Terrorism"

Further, Chris Hedges -- a former Divinity Student, turned world journalist, and medical examiner for the Christo-path Corpse -- has written many times about these dickwads.

Every time "those people" -- Christian Jihadists -- whine about how they deserve a place at the table AND their minority opinion (they, 'course, think they're a majority. What Crack Brains!) -- every time they whine that they should be listened to, considered even vaguely Homo sapiens and have a "right" to their opinions ...

... that's when we should be pulling out the guillotines.

If the Darth Vader Cheneys could suspend laws, ethics and morality for Hell Holes like Abu Ghraib, why should we stand on that "don't stoop to their level" restraints??

Why the hell not? Evolution and Natural Selection works waaaaaaay too slowly to wipe these ass wipes from the gene pool.

Chlorox in the pool. Puh-lease!
