It is possible

that I am the only person in American who saw this picture and thought...

"Could this be the

Hippest Administration Evah?"

But I doubt it.

It would be nice, wouldn't it?

But I doubt Edwards would be a bridesmaid, twice.

(Oh, dear. I realize I just gave MoDo another way to feminize him.)

in fact, that was EXACTLY my reaction!!

This needs a theme song.

The I Spy theme just doesn't inspire as well as Hawaii 5-0.

Er, this one is just cool.

Yeah I'm with res ipsa. Somebody's gotta be on top is the problem. But the voters may decide which one that is sooner rather than later.

My fav pairing this year, Edwards on top. But LOL that 50 theme song kinda works since Obama was born in Hi.

Maybe, just maybe, Edwards'll do the second fiddle twice thing - if he has to do so.

Things that'll make it work:
1. He won't be running with a stodgy skull-n'boner
2. There'll be no nonstop "Vietbabble" - unless of couse Saint McCain gets the nod; then it'll all come from the other side;
3. Hold Edwards to his words. To be an agent of change one has to be in position. The office of VEEP has been thoroughly FUBARed over the last 8 years and needs a psychic colonic of major proportions, and Edwards is an ass-kicker. Perfect match, buy the sound of it all.

But I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't want to see it go the other way (Edwards/Obama '08). Jus' sayin'

Edwards/Obama but the other way is fine too.

Can someone fill me in on when and where this picture was taken? Because family issues have kept me out of the loop and away from politics for the past week.

It looks to me like they're saying, "Live, from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

Just think.

An election without a Bush or a Clinton.

Or a Yale grad.

Dare we dream?

Could this be the dawning of a new America unencumbered by dynastic skull-and-boner visions of world empire?

Or will Lucy pull the football away again?

In this time of renewed hope one should take a moment to thank whatever guides your universe for Columba Garnica Gallo.

This lovely woman, this madre de dios, this crazy bitch did the world its biggest favor in years--she married Jeb Bush and turned him into a dirty papist.

It was never supposed to be Georgie Boy.

Jeb was way smarter, better-looking and generally more presidential than Chimpy McCodpiece and would have been the choice in 2000.

He would have done the same evil shit but would have been far smoother about it, I don't think as many people would have noticed, and Georgie Boy might have been a shoo-in as the followup act.

If he or Georgie were still in the game for 2008 Hillary would be the Dem frontrunner by far.

No one would have given "lightweights" like Edwards or Obama a chance against the Bush brand and the Rovians, and most "serious" people would have felt little choice but to throw their weight behind the Clinton machine.

Instead, Jeb went insane and sold his birthright for a Catholic Mexican.

So thank you, Columbia Garnica Gallo.

In damning yourself to Bushness you might very well have saved the USA.

Tu me gusta. Muy, MUY bueno.

Actually, you need to thank Walkin' Lawton Chiles, ex-senator from Florida, who abruptly entered the 1990 Florida gubernatorial race, muscled out lightweight Bill Nelson for the Democratic nomination, and became governor. If Lawton hadn't done that, Jeb would have faced charisma-less Bill Nelson instead of heavyweight Lawton. Lawton beat Jeb on Jeb's first shot at the governor's chair. George became a governor before Jeb as a result.

cleter--

It's not about Jeb's Florida governorship.

That was his consolation prize because they knew he could rig the national election for Georgie Boy or any other RethugliKKKLan after he went insane by signing off on a batshit lunatic like Katherine Harris' certifying a national vote in his state.

They would have bought him another office suitable for national office, like US Rep or, god forbid, US Senator if he could have stood the Dobson test.

The dogwhistle base would have rejected Jeb regardless of the office he held because he was a dirty papist married to thuh immigrant menace.

A Catholic whut married a Mexican.

You think Jeb could have overcome the Huckabidiots?

A visit to the Bob Jones University, Focus on the Family or Free Republic websites should disabuse you of any notion that the Southern Baptist KKK would have done anything but throw Jeb's Catholic ass into the fires of hell.

I like how you left hillary's clutching hand in photo left... juuuuuust out of reach for her. Easily cropped out of the picture. I like it that way.

I could see this for the next 16 years right there. Edwards first, then Obama. This could work very well for me. Not a bush or clinton in sight... bettah!

Nope, that didn't come to mind Drifty, but its just perfect! :-)

Hmmm . . . I'm not fond of Obama, and his speeches, and his record of shape shifting is better n the guy with a pot to sleep in on Deep Space 9. I mean, I LIKED Odo.

But c'mon folks, changelings is changelings.

Well the Cosby reference is dead on.

If Obama gets top billing first then Edwards could spend 16 years in positions of great influence. He could Veep for Obama the way Bobby Kennedy AG'ed for JFK- the nut-cutting lawyer just behind the scenes. We could use 8 years of that just to undo the current damage.

Obama gives me the impression that he could be bought easier than a Clinton at a yard sale. Did anyone else read this MAGIC NEGRO story? I wish I could remember which blog hipped me to it...

Mr natural - not "easier than a Clinton". I do believe Obama is a man of integrity. However, the needle skitters across the vinyl for me on Joe Lieberman, his "mentor". Its a showstopper for me wanting Obama on top at this time. That could change with time. I worry that we could see an Obama/Lieberman ticket. Very much.

I soooo wish he (or even clinton) had emerged as a "leader" in the Senate since the mid-terms. That would have held more "change" currency at this point. Neither of them did. I don't care what they say now, that didn't happen. It matters to me.

I think John Edwards has the fight we need right now. He's had the same focused passion for the entire year. We see Obama, Hillary and even Huck move toward his "change the way government does business". That's the change we need I don't care what race or gender anyone is. I only care that they will wage and win this fight and have the backbone to do it every day.

I'm already tired of those saying John Edwards needs to soften his message. Why? He's perfectly right when he says "You can't nice these people". He understands they will not give their power up, that we have to TAKE it. I'm all for that. That's where hope lives. Fight.

OMG, that's exactly how it went last night, Better Half & I are just the right age to move from speculating on Edwards coming in second, to Edwards going VEEP, to sixties theme music, to Dear Husband bouncing around the bedroom pretending to pin down the evil forces of B-U-S-H....

He's got to see this post!

Drifty,

You sir, are one magnificent son-of-a-bitch.

I was joking with a friend on the phone about this last night, and damned if you didn't nail the visuals.

I tip my Tito Jackson applejack in your direction!

I'm starting to get the distinct impression that there is already an agreement between Obama and Edwards that each will pick the other for the #2 spot if he's the winner. The refusal to go negative on each other, the chumminess at the debate.

I'd rather see Edwards/Obama, mostly because I hate to see Edwards as being the vice-presidential Harold Stassen. But he could play a very valuable role in an Obama campaign, being the angry bad cop to Obama's good cop. Let Obama use the soaring rhetoric while Edwards kicks the insurance industry in the nuts.

Another factor: You want to see transformational? How about a black man running with a white southern man as his running mate. The South may never recover.

I LOVE that picture!! I'm rooting for an Obama / Edwards or Edwards / Obama ticket - inspiration with teeth or a fighting ticket that inspires. Either one works fine for me.

Disclaimer: I duly swear to work for and support whatever democratic candidate that gets the nomination in the face of the republican choices.
