OK, John Amato talking about the weaseling around the goddamn Republicans did right before the election kind of made me think about how 1/6 was their unstated goal the whole damn time.
The failing to count the mail in ballots before election night was done for one reason and one reason only: to make it appear on election night that Fergus was winning, when they all knew he was gonna get his ass kicked. They even talked in the media about how that would make election challenges easier and would lend them more support among people unaware of their maneuvering.
The big lie was in place even before the election was over to be lied about, and Fergus never missed an opportunity to shit-talk the process and threaten unspecified retaliation from his idiot hordes.
So then the idiot hordes went on rampage and everyone was what? Surprised?
I still feel like we can't have politics until we deal with 1/6. Like how you can't have a normal conversation with someone until you deal with the dump they just took on the good tablecloth.
I agree that it's a fool's game to get too worked up over the midterms just yet, but I also feel like we should actually prepare for the worst because the goddamn Republicans are on a tear over voting rights just now, and the courts just decided that they won't stop them. How much of the For the People Act do you suppose would be left standing after the latest version of the Roberts court has its way with it?
That does not mean giving up, however. We possess the tools that could possibly win, or at least not lose catastrophically like 2010, and we should use the shit out of them.
Thank you again for the podcast, and please tell the birthday girl I wish her a happy one.
