Yes, the entire GOP will definitely keep pretending everything is cool until the Trump Administration collapses, after which every Crazy Uncle Liberty (with a huge boost from your profession) will miraculously always have been an Independent who was deeply disappointed in Both Sides.
The next Democratic president will then face uniform, hysterical opposition to anything they propose and be blamed for every doomsday weapon and bag of flaming dog shit Donald Trump leaves behind.
The Sunday Shows will be an unending series of panels having a sad over "Why Won't President ____ Lead?" but this time those panels will be larded with Never Trumpers who have now been gifted by your profession with a thousand times more credibility than they deserve. The Never Trumpers will shake their heads sadly and shed bitter tears over deficits and "If only the Dems had paid us more heed."
Across the country, those millions of newly-minted faux "independents" will be covered breathlessly by your profession as part of some brand-new, Third Way movement that will be AstroTurfed into existence for the occasion using the same wingnut welfare cash that keeps the Right afloat now.
