Glenn Spleenwald: Still Putting the "Ass" in "Russian Asset"

From Brother Charlie Pierce:
Goddamn the hackers. Goddamn the journalists who laundered the pilfered material. Goddamn any of them who treated Roger Stone as a source, or as a cute prankster, instead of the nasty vandal he’s always been. Goddamn the pundits who chortled over the pilfered material. Goddamn the politicians who profited from the hacking. Goddamn the politicians who minimized the hacking. Goddamn the politicians who still stonewall about the hacking. Goddamn the “activists” who ranted about “McCarthyism” when anybody pointed out that the 2016 presidential election had been poisoned from afar. Goddamn them all as traitors, if not to the American nation, then to everything that ever made that nation worth the bother.
By my public school math count, at least three of these goddamns apply to Mr. Glenn Greenwald, who will go right on moving the goalposts, or declaring that goalposts are jackbooted, drooling, Obot trickery, or explaining to Tucker Carlson that none of this matters because whataboutthedroooones! until Pete Omidyar's money runs out.
I don't have any Pete Omidyar money coming my way, but earlier this year I broke and invested some of my very limited funds in a new pair of sturdy, steel-toed "I Told You So" boots because I kept wearing the soles out of my regular "I Told You So" tap shoes.

In retrospect, I believe it was money well-spent.

Actually, someone at LGM pointed out that Trump has expanded the drone warfare program, yet ol' Glenn seems to have lost interest in the subject. A few years ago, this was the only issue that mattered, and if you didn't think Obama was evil then it was because you liked murdering brown children (remember that bit of sanctimony?). Now, I guess we're okay with murdering brown children as long as mumble mumble and Obama is really worse than Trump if you think about it.

Drifty, I thought the same thing when I saw Charlie's post. And I agree, Greenwald was in denial for too long. But he is still correct that MSNBC should be avoided, as they do engage in labeling critics of the Democratic party to be Kremlin--ffiliated. Particularly that spook, Nance. We have to acknowledge that MSNBC is not journalism. But it is also time to acknowledge the Greenwald denied the trith after months of very hard facts. I think it would have been more forgivable had he flipped when Cohen was raided. Now it's too late. Thankfully The Intercept is full of real journalists.

I just noticed in a comment over at Sic Semper Tyrannis that one of the companies, Concord Management, is demanding a trial in the U.S., is demanding a speedy trial, as guaranteed by the Constitution, and Mueller's crack team of attorneys is having problems trying to produce the discovery material they are required to turn over to the defense lawyers. They turned over a huge number of documents, but they were all in Russian. Of course, the defense attorneys are going to have no problem with that, but how does that prove they were influencing American voters? Anyway, the poster, using the nym akaPatience, says Andrew McCarthy at National Review is occasionally commenting on this. I'd love to vind a better way to keep informed about the case's progress. This is the first chance to force any of the accusers to produce some actual evidence.

Mickey Smith: You see, what's impressive is we met [Sarah Jane] nearly an hour ago and I still haven't said "I told you so" yet.
Rose Tyler: I'm not listening to this.
Mickey Smith: Though I have prepared a little "I was right" dance which I can show you later.

Greenwald was interviewed on Democracy Now this morning and totally found no fault with Trump or Putin. He was disgusting to the core.
