Bar The Doors. Let It Burn.

(Not safe for work if your cube-mate speaks Dothraki)

CNN Money reports that the war for control of the Conservative Disinformation Bubble -- deciding who gets to be a True Conservative and who kicked to the curb as a dirty RINO heretic -- is going knives-out (thanks to Alert Reader "EW"):
Conservative media heavyweights at war over Donald Trump

Conservative media friendships and alliances are breaking apart as Donald Trump's run for president roils the Republican Party.

This conservative media crackup has been happening for months, but this week it was broadcast on the airwaves like never before, with a verbal war of words involving Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, three of America's most popular talk radio hosts.

Hannity, one of Trump's biggest boosters in the media, called out his counterparts for failing to support Trump and the GOP. He said on Tuesday that he'll hold figures like Beck, columnist Jonah Goldberg and the conservative publication National Review responsible if Hillary Clinton beats Trump.

"You own Hillary Clinton," Hannity said to them.

Prominent anti-Trump commentator Bill Kristol tweeted this response: "Hannity has become Lady Macbeth: Gradually becoming more unhinged as the man in whom he believes falters."

Beck responded differently, by saying there's no "holy war" going on and that he agrees with Hannity that Clinton "is a disaster."

So what's happening?

"All of us feel like we're trapped in a barn fire," Beck said, "so we don't know what to do."

The fracturing within conservative media circles, between Trump loyalists and opponents, mirrors the ongoing GOP civil war that Trump's candidacy has intensified.
It is triggering conversations that have rarely, if ever, been had before -- with some conservative commentators openly questioning the value of Fox News while others accuse Limbaugh of betraying his listeners...
The problem, of course, is that every side of this fight is depraved and awful.  There is no corner of the Conservative media that isn't stock to the rafters with vampires and hobgoblins, which means the ideal outcome of this Drivel War would be Rush Limbaugh clubbing Glenn Beck into a coma with Bill Kristol's smirking skull, after which he keels over and 'splodes Mr. Creosote fashion --

-- taking out the entire Fox News hive in the blast wave.

But now that MSNBC has signed on fully with the cable news wingnut welfare full-employment programs, the disease is completely out of containment and is running rampant through what used to be the cable news CDC.

Still, Glenn Beck is right.  At the moment, most of them are trapped in a barn fire.

And we should do everything in our power to bar the doors and let them burn.

"Drivel War" is perfect as this is a bullshit, made up, "internal fight" designed to distract from the reality that the Republican voting block is shrinking, marginalized, and hasn't carried a national election over a decade.

The media is already setting up the talking point that 2016 is going to be a Republican loss due to internal problems and NOT another Democratic win due to voter preferences.

Media conservatives/Both Siders will tell us on the morning of second Wednesday in November that "Trump and those Republicans way over there are responsible for the least popular candidate EVER being elected President!" and the post-election analysis will be "Republicans just need to get their shit together, then something, something, generational majority by 2020!!"

Hunter S Thompson,

The press is a gang of cruel faggots. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for fuckoffs and misfits—a false doorway to the backside of life, a filthy piss-ridden little hole nailed off by the building inspector, but just deep enough for a wino to curl up from the sidewalk and masturbate like a chimp in a zoo-cage

Jessica Yellin of CNN in the article Driftglas cites has it right. The producers of cable news like Phil Griffin, are trying desperately to glue eyeballs onto a dying media. Eventually, few people are going to consume TV news, and will get their information through the internet from their phones& IPADs. In the meantime the monster is going to rampage and destroy the village and do incalculable damage. Because, if Fox News has the largest and most stable block of viewing audience, then MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN are all going to want a piece of that pie. And the only way to get it is to become Fox-lite (with emphasis on the Fox, and not so much on the lite).

On a more positive note, if ever these brownshirts take over, the rest of us on the target list will have plenty of lead time to get out of Dodge City. Because the first purges will be against the "unpure" Republicans.

So well before the Khmer Rouge starts rounding up environmentalists, feminists, homosexuals, lefty bloggers (looking at you, Drift), people who wear glasses, etc., we'll see hanged the likes of Beck, Brooks, McCain, etc. Plenty of time to get that passport and haul off to the four corners.

After watching the Yams stunt yesterday, then reading the NYT fluff piece on it, it occurs to me that this isn't an election it's an attempted coup. All bets on democracy are off if this malignancy wins. And his shock troops (the media) are not going enjoy the fruits of victory.

"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason. Which is more or less true. For the most part, they are dirty little animals with huge brains and no pulse. Every once in a while, they will toss up a token human [...] But these are only the exceptions that prove the hideous rule. Mainly we are dealing with a profoundly degenerate world, a living web of foulness, greed and treachery... which is also the biggest real business around and impossible to ignore. You can't get away from TV. It is everywhere. The hog is in the tunnel."
- HST, "Full-Time Scrambling" (San Francisco Examiner, 4 Nov 85)

The only person I've ever heard of who got away from television was John Michael Greer, former Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America and more recently founder of the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn, who claims a lifelong immunity to the drug. Sadly, however, this leaves him incapable of communicating with us unenlightened and unheeding Earth-fools from a position other than that of utter condescension.

I for one believe we require Print, TV, Net, Radio and other device news media.

We just do not need The Murdochs, owning and controlling all of them. They serve different people through means of access.
We cannot stop Nor do I care to ban a Glenn Beck who made it to cable from radio and ended on the net.
Defining inciteful hate and or threats of harm has been the responsibility of media owners to keep a level of sanity in broadcasting. Not so much today in Alt Rightworlds.
But it is our choice to listen and as long as there are credible alternatives that provide what I will call, "Real actual news reports". reason should rule the majority.
As some of the "perhaps we went to far" as the syikes of the right hate radio world ponders at the prefaces of losing his listeners and them not believing him.

When it is too late, you went too far, I always say.
Can America get it;s mojo back?

Being born under the sign of Aires, I love a good conflagration-especially when the locked and flaming structure is filled with this gaggle of cretinous pig-turds.
