I just voted, which is a simple and easy process in my rather Blue town in my rather Blue County near Denver, sometimes referred to as The People's Republic. Democracy can be fun and easy.
But now I want to rant for a moment at the stupid-ass, god-damned, mother-fucking, mouth-breathing, brain-dead, fucking crazy-assed conservative assholes who make me vote NO on a constitutional amendment to give fertilized human eggs the same rights as people who survived long enough to be born; who make me vote NO on a constitutional amendment to turn my state into the American equivalent of Somalia (or Colorado Springs, which is inhabited by insane water-heads) by voting to de-fund basic government services; and vote NO on some bullshit about health care.
I want the FREEDOM to not have to deal with with stupid and insane initiatives begun by people who are mentally ill and pathologically dangerous. I am sick and tired of putting up with people whose political orientation makes sense ONLY if one is living off the interest and not touching the principle, or if one is simply bat-shit fucking crazy! ENOUGH!!
Thanks for letting me get that out of my system. It is a beautiful day in the People's Republic, not a cloud anywhere and temps will be in the mid 60's. Other than a need for precipitation it is a perfect day.
Among the myriad choices of sharp exhortations available, 'Grow the fuck up', as directed at political fantasists of any stripe should be among the first at hand considered for use among those for whom thinking is a necessity, not an option...why, it was good enough for my political tombstone, by golly.

I was mentioning C Springs because those imbeciles would not pay a small tax increase, so the City had to turn off half the streetlights and stopped collecting trash from City parks. Not too far from OK now, is it?
My last blog post pretty much said the same thing and a great deal more. Mrs. JP and I voted at 2 today.
Maybe growing up involves seeing clearly - and ending stupid and self abusive behavior, like voting.

I know exactly who Tbogg is talking about. Not kidding. A sad loss that was. This teaching of the lesson to fuck up the ONLY chance we have to move forward and strengthen our position. NO ONE I know was terribly pleased with many of the actions of the admin as a whole.... HOWEVER, progress was made. USB - I voted for the simlar healh care crap in AZ and even though I'm on a blue island our district is fucking going RED.... well brownred as in teagagger. After stumbling onto your blog, and reading several posts, including this one, I'm wondering if you are so inured of profanity that you completely missed the irony of titling your entry: "Grow The Fuck Up"? Whatever your goals may be, you are sure to fall far short of your potential as long as you cannot resist such pettiness. Your blog seems little more than railing against the status quo. Why don't you grow up and actually contribute something constructive to the national discourse? You may find more than just idle commiseration as your reward.

You "stumbled" onto this blog and found the language objectionable, so rather than stumbling on to a blog more suited to your delicate sensibilities, you read more posts and decided to enlighten the author about falling short of his "potential" and the blanket critique that the entire blog did little more than "rail against the status quo".
You then let him know that he "had a lot to learn".
Since it is apparent you seem to think you know more about what constitutes an effective blog that "contributes something constructive to the national discourse" perhaps you would be so kind as to provide a link to your blog. So that we, who languish here in "idle commiseration" could bask in your wisdom.

I doubt there'll be a primarying of Obama. There won't need to be. IF Barack Obama is selfish enough to even dream about running again, the Democratic version of the Goldwater Firing Squad will make the trek to the White House sometime in 2012 to tell him how the hog ate the cabbage.
As of about 48 hours ago, John Boehner has Obama's political balls sitting in a mayo jar on his desk. He didn't have to work too hard to get them; Obama basically removed them, put them in the jar, handed them to him, and said:
"Here, John; NOW will you be all bipartisany with me?"
Running for president involves demonstrating political capital. You win primaries the first time around, or you lead the party to success the second time around.
Obama has just been spayed, neutered, hamstrung, and just generally converted into an honest republican surrogate, as opposed to the dishonest one he's been for the past 22 months.
No turnaround. No political capital in 2012, and no second term. I think he'll do the right thing and bail. And he should.

Lincoln was trailing the Republican by almost per cent BEFORE the primary.

The article goes on to show that Lincoln was trailing all the other possible GOP candidates, had terrible approval/disaproval ratings and so on. The notion that she lost in the general election because she was challenged in the primaries is not supported by the evidence. Put that on your CUE CARD.
The other guy, Halter, as a non incumbent, as someone who at least has a coherent idealogy, who had some chance of firing up the base, unlike DINO Lincoln, could hardly have done any worse than she did.
But, putting all that aside, what is your point?
I guess the "message" here is not only should the left not go Third Party, but it shouldn't even try to work within the Democratic Party to get better, more liberal candidates. In other words, the DNC/DLC/Rahm Emmanuel/High Broderites OWN our votes, and we should just shut up and take what's coming to us. Vote D every time in the general. Never challenge an incumbent D in a primary, no matter how much of an R in disguise they actually are.
