Madness on the Half-Shell

(click pic for larger)
Meanwhile, over in the locked ward of American politics...

As she emerges fully-formed and untainted by grubby facts or profanely nuanced contexts, Bill Kristol and Rich Lowry are shown here

windbagging their movement's new goddess ashore...

...while Laura Ingraham

uses her Hate Radio loom to weave an entire Neiman-Marcus'-shopping-spree-worth of Empress' New Clothes around her.

Starting November 5th, 8:00 A.M., half of this country's surviving Conservatives are going to look on the Scintilla from Wasilla

as the living embodiment of everything they believe has gone wildly batshit/yahoo/clusterfuck wrong --

Andrew Sullivan -- Feminism And Palin:
But let's be honest: Palin is now where she is - not as Alaska governor but as vice-presidential nominee - because an old white guy decided to play some identity politics, not because she has fought her way to the top of the national greasy pole. It's great that by a combination of a decrepit and degenerate political establishment in Alaska, and her own personality and tenacity, she has just become governor of Alaska. But McCain's choice of her - as is impossible to miss - is a cynical ploy to exploit Democratic divisions over gender.
...

My sense is that this pick is insulting to voters, especially women voters, and terribly condescending to Palin. It's as much about countering sexism as picking Clarence Thomas was about countering racism.
...

And in the context of a war that McCain keeps (rightly) saying is the fight for civilization, the selection suggests a) that McCain doesn't believe a word he has been saying about the war or b) his cynicism and opportunism about national security makes Karl Rove look like Dwight Eisenhower...

-- with their movement.

While the other half ascends a 20-mile-high mountain of flags and bibles to announce in voices thick with adoration --
Richard Viguerie: She’s perfect

With VP pick, McCain “unites the GOP, gives conservatives a stake in the election, and puts a real reformer on the ticket”

(Minneapolis, MN) The selection of Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain’s vice presidential running mate unites the Republican Party and energizes its conservative base, Richard A. Viguerie said.

“McCain has chosen to balance his ticket with a principled conservative. Governor Palin’s life story is one of sticking to principle. She is living proof that a person can take on the corrupt political establishment – including corrupt leaders in her own party – and achieve great things,” he said.
...

“Congratulations to John McCain for hearing and responding to conservatives. Conservatives, the base of the party, have been listless. But, now, nearly all will work enthusiastically for the McCain-Palin ticket. In fact, this is the most enthusiastic conservatives have been since the era for Ronald Reagan.”

He concluded: “This is a grand-slam home run. Conservatives’ feet haven’t touched the ground since this announcement.”

NOTE TO EDITORS:Richard A. Viguerie pioneered political direct mail and has been called “one of the creators of the modern conservative movement” (The Nation magazine), one of the “conservatives of the century” (The Washington Times), and one of 2008’s “top 25 influencers” among Republicans (NewsMax magazine).

-- that she is Conservatism's salvation.

Then, sure as sunrise, some irresponsible, America-hating, Dirty Fucking Liberal will poke his or her head in the door, taser the Post-Partisan Unity Pony in the testicles, and yell

"Pie Fight!"

Bad Liberal!

I sure hope Sarah becomes the new champion of the right, but I sense she may not survive much longer as Alaska's governor. I'd love to see her debating President Obama in 2012!

There are 19 Republicans up for reelection in 2010 and if any of them participate in filibusters in the next two years we're gonna get'em. Big time.

Oh.

Well, THAT was a short celebration party. ha.

Love the photoshops. Wonderful.

We're here. NO Fear!

Let the inquisitions begin. Not for the sake of divisiveness or retribution, but for justice.

The criminals and criminal enablers don't get to wash their blood-soaked hands and slink to their bunkers with the lovely parting gifts.

The bill needs to settled up.
