That last picture...Profound, beyond mere words. Kudos.
yup. that just about says it all.
drifty--
I am *so* saving that last one.
Words fail. That last photo is a perfect represenation of the true fall out from that horrible day.
Off topic--I checked Steve's site today and saw that his family IS going to publish a book of his writings, which makes me sad and happy at the same time.
ah yes, the use of FEAR as a means to grab more and more power:
"...How did this [dictatorship] happen? Whose to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable. But again, if the truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense.
Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to...[President Bush]. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent obedient consent...."

driftglass, that is just a thing of beauty. I bow in your general direction, sir. That is magnificent.
:)
¿Ees that Richard Armitage een that second PNAC photo?
That certainly opened my nictating membranes.
Hmmmmmmmmm...
A new motto for Left Blogistan:
Read driftglass first.
Read driftglass first.
O I so agree.
I'm with US Blues.
What's it gonna take to get rid of these mofos, a military coup?
Oops.
What can I say except thank you.
And for any aspiring writer/graphicist out there, this essay was about getting to the last piece. That image has been stuck in my head -- exactly as you see it -- for two years now, but I never had the chops to do it just justice.
Then I found after Photoabusing pictures for a couple of years now, and getting a little better each time, I could finally do my imagination justice while still being respectful of the memory of that terrible day justice.
It was a good lesson for me about trusting my instincts and better angels, and trying to be patient about letting the means for realizing my ends come into my hands when they're ready.
Third picture:"...'absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event such as Pearl Harbor.' One year later? 9/11!"
Goshallwhillikers, wasn't that a lucky coincidence for the PNACers?
[nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more]
That last picture is brilliant. The entire thing needs to be sent to every Dem in office. Kudos, Drifty.
Really poignant, Drifty.
Saying anything more about it, especially that last one, would be repetitive and redundant.
Sad to say that most Americans could identify few of the psychopaths in those deadly lineups. You are right, they were behind the controls of the plane in the last photo, metaphorically at the very least.

If only people had been making this point in 2001.
Very well done. Thank you.
Just...wow.
That final image.
Damn.
When right is on your side, it frees the brain in ways evil folk will never comprehend. Frees the brain to create...art like this--and art is exactly what it is.
Pointed.
Pugnacious.
And political.
It's a gut-kick, A righteous gut-kick that there's no response for...because it's so right. And so damned masterful.
Thank you Drift, for all you do, and doing it so well, against the right people.

Lugar's starting to bail on bush.
One more GOP rat, heading for the hawserlines.
:o)
Great.
And the last picture is a masterpiece.
