Matthew Dowd Remains a Fundamentally Ridiculous Person

File under: "Words? What do they mean?"

For example, ABC's chief political analyst and the future co-founder of The America Platitude Party does not know what the word "ideology" means:

From noted radical "Phonemes Matter!" extremist Merrriam-Webster:
Definition of ideology

1.  :  visionary theorizing2.  a :  a systematic body of concepts especially about human life or cultureb :  a manner or the content of thinking characteristic of an individual, group, or culturec :  the integrated assertions, theories and aims that constitute a sociopolitical program
ABC's chief political analyst dreams of a world where pesky things like "concepts" and "aims" don't clutter up political parties.

I dream of a world where the American media does not pay people like Mr. Dowd enormous amounts of money to string together meaningless bromides and cat poster feel-goods.

Pretty sure neither of us are gonna see our dreams come true.

For his sins, ABC News has given Mr. Dowd his own "digital show" once a week where he will answer questions --

-- except, presumably, questions from people who he has already blocked for, y'know. asking questions.

Far from being ridiculous, that is essentially the state of the Republican party today, where no concept or value of any kind really exists except the determination to keep their deal, in which a few rich sociopaths coughed up the money to put them in office, and they repay the favor by stripping the country of every scrap of wealth and transferring it to those same rich psychopaths. Neither a concept nor an aim; just a gigantic criminal conspiracy.

What Green Eagle said.

OK. everybody take a deep breath.
We live in a Dunning-Krueger world.
Probably nothing we can do about it.

Just for the hell of it, I'll try to dissect that Dowd frog:

1. "When ideology infects religions and political parties ..." It's been a roundabout between the three since god knows when. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find a historical example of a religion without an ideology, though the reverse is not uncommon. Same thing for politics.

2. "... and becomes more important than truth and the common good ..." Uh, that's pretty much the point of most ideologies. Not all, of course. So to pigeon-hole ideologies as a single-minded infection into religion and politics is to, as Drift said, not know what the word means.

3. "... we lose our humanity." -- Which qualifies as pure Cylon propaganda. Dowd is a toaster!

"Dowd is a toaster!"

And not one of the cute ones, either. Kinda makes me want to dust off my metal fabricating skills...

There, fixed it to reflect reality.

How quickly you forget that they do have one stated goal: piss off liberals.
