They Say Imitation is the Sincerest From of Flattery

Well then, consider that this, from the podcast Keith Olbermann posted this morning at 5:00 AM EST...

Next [Trump] will be suing people for voting for Nikki Haley, or for moving out of a Trump building, or for thinking bad thoughts about him like in that Twilight Zone episode...

And this was posted by me last night at 10:40 PM CST:

But It’s Good That You’re Appointing Lunatics, Traitors and Criminals, Donald...

So, I guess, consider me .... "flattered"?

Hi Keith!

"Tontine" is a fun word.

ton·tine
/ˈtänˌtēn/

noun
  • an annuity shared by subscribers to a loan or common fund, the shares increasing as subscribers die until the last survivor enjoys the whole income.
  • a life insurance plan in which the beneficiaries are those who survive and maintain a policy to the end of a given period.

Ancient.

1755–65; < French; named after Lorenzo Tonti, Neapolitan banker who started the scheme in France about 1653.

Nice mouth-feel.  And fairly obscure.  You who know me know I love obscure words.   And you just don't see "tontine" in everyday conversation.  Ever.

Except, strangely enough, in the last two days, in two places.  Even stranger, from two different Liberal media sources.

The odds of this happening coincidentally?

At least as long as drawing to a Royal Fizbin.

The first "tontine" was on this very blog just two days ago!

And the second?

That was Keith Olbermann.  Today:

Olbermann [referring to the  New York Times' one last, godawful, drive-by election headline]:

"Win or Lose, Trump Has Already Won.” How about "Win or Lose, Cancer Has Already Won” or maybe the New York Times -- and I assume they're just trolling us now or they have a bet -- a tontine -- as to who gets the Times when everybody else is no longer subscribed.  The last subscriber gets the paper.  I don't know...

Y'know, Keith, the next time you drop by for a quick read, leave a comment :-)

It don't cost nuthin'.

Still Leaning III: Lean Harder

UPDATE: Olbermann Reinstated.

Keith Olbermann returns to MSNBC on Tuesday

Well that was fast! MSNBC president Phil Griffin announced Sunday night that "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann will return to the air on Tuesday. The announcement comes just two days after he was suspended "indefinitely" for contributing to three 2010 candidates without prior consent from the network.

"After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy," Griffin said in a statement. "We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night."
...

Two days?

Hell, I've had erections that lasted longer.

Welcome back and all, KO, but now what am I supposed to do with two warehouses full of "Lean Forward" parody posters?

Leaning Forward

(h/t The Gryffin and dedicated to MSNBC President Phil Griffin)

Lean Failward

Spleen Forward...

Dwarf Loaner...

Mean Forward...

Onward Feral...

I wonder how much MSNBC's multi-million dollar "Lean Forward" ad campaign would be worth if a few thousand people put a brand-new new ad parody in its wheelhouse every single day?

Of would you rather quit stepping on your dick and do the right thing?

Because with two, vowel-rich action-words on a black background, I can bang this drum until the end of time.

There Will Be Blood

MSNBC suspends Keith Olbermann for making three, completely legal campaign contributions.

No. Really. (And thanks, MSNBC! I honestly, I never thought I'd have occasion to use this graphic again.)

BREAKING: As a matter of conscience, Chris Hayes will not be subbing for KO.

Meanwhile, over on Fox News, in part 15,877 of their Patriotic Special Tribute to The Greatest Country God Ever Created, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck both drop trou and take a simultaneous dump on a voodoo doll of Barack Obama while singing "Horst-Wessel-Lied".

KO no longer OK with DKos

From Politico:
Keith Olbermann leaves Daily Kos

Keith Olbermann announced Wednesday night that he will cease blogging on the liberal Daily Kos over a comment directed at the MSNBC host’s coverage.

Olbermann and some of his MSNBC colleagues surprised their left-leaning fans on Tuesday with eviscerating critiques of President Barack Obama’s Oval Office address on the oil spill spewing off the Gulf Coast.

“It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days,” Olbermann said of the president’s remarks, echoing similarly negative comments from fellow MSNBC hosts Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow.

One commenter on the Daily Kos, where Olbermann has maintained a diary over the years, speculated that the pattern of hosts generally sympathetic to the president bashing the administration was too consistent to be a coincidence.

“Can’t verify, of course,” the commenter began, “but a friend in the news biz tells me he got a damaging e-mail from one of his pals at NBC. Something to the effect that their anger was pre-planned because ‘beating up on the president has been good for ratings.’ I haven't checked, but I'm hearing that Olbermann slammed the speech on Twitter before it even started.”

Olbermann, incensed by the commenter, later fired off a posted titled “Check, Please” explaining that he won’t be “back” to the site until it stops delving into “conspiracy theories.”

Meh. Lover's tiff; I give it three weeks before the hot, makeup blogging begins.
