As most of you already know by now, a doughy wannabe Nazi named Connor Estelle just found out about "At-will" employment the hard way, so I confess I'm writing this mostly for future reference, and also because when the Muse drops a title like "Triumph of the At Will" in my lap, I feel a certain obligation.

Left-wing journalist Mehdi Hasan debated 20 far-right conservatives in a video that has gone viral on social media, largely due to shocking statements made by some of his opponents, including one who admitted he identifies as a fascist and doesn’t care about being called a Nazi—and who has since lost his job, which Forbes confirmed through an employer....
One day after the Jubilee debate, Connor [Estelle...who goes by the pseudonym Pinesap online] claimed in an interview on RiftTV he was fired from his job as a result of the debate, which he blamed on the “manner in which you’re canceled” for voicing “heterosexual, Christian, moral beliefs.”
VeUP, a cloud engineering firm, confirmed to Forbes the man had been a subcontractor, stating his employment was “not terminated by VeUP, but by the core contractor.”
Connor has since posted a fundraiser on a Christian fundraising platform seeking $15,000 in emergency funds while he seeks a new job, and as of Tuesday morning, he has raised more than $29,000, with some comments from donors including, “It's ok to be white,” and “We need a white nation! It’s our only future! Vive le Fascisme!”
This little fascist potato bug wasn't "cancelled". He was fired because, well, let's let an expert explain:
In United States labor law, at-will employment is an employer's ability to dismiss an employee for any reason (that is, without having to establish "just cause" for termination), and without warning, as long as the reason is not illegal (e.g. firing because of the employee's gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability status).
And before you ask, being a MAGA dumbass is not considered a valid disability status. Still, it is a shame that his parents, capitalism, and MAGA magical thinking all failed him so comprehensively

Walked off twice with a variation on “you’ll be first to be deported” but not enough guts to say it to Mehdi’s face.
His flag waving alone should get him a mental health checkup.
