My regular "Stupid Shit Andrew Sullivan Says" feature has fallen off in
recent times since America's most prominent privileged White, gay, Catholic,
Tory, Conservative, Libertarian phrenologist has finally gotten around to
blocking me on the Bird Hellsite.
So his day-to-day idiocy doesn't cross my path as much as it used to.
However today some of you Alert Citizens sent this along to me and, yep, it
checks both the Stupid Shit and Racist Shit boxes. so I felt
somewhat obliged.

Sullivan is so far past his sell-by date that the mold that has grown over his
opinions has long since become sentient and run away. And as the
aperture of his public spotlight has shrunk to a pinhole, his "hot takes" on
any wedge issue he can invent or glom onto have grown increasingly, flailingly
stupid.
But what makes this time especially savory are the sorts of bottom feeding weirdos who have risen to his defense.
There's "Combat Vet; Christian" guy and "MAGAStormChase, Jesus is my Savior, America 🇺🇸 Freedom of Speech and the Constitution #LetFreedomRing" guy, and "DefundZelensky" guy and on and on like that, plus the requisite number of "DefinitelyNotARussianBot523414, zero followers" guys.
When I said, some while ago, that I had seen the future of Fox News...

Oh, but there is. There most definitely is.
Think about what crazy nonsense this "view" presumes, inter alia: (1) that police officers can't do their jobs if their feelings are hurt (let alone by generalized criticism of police misconduct); and (2) that the job of the police is to prevent murders before they happen.
I mean, didn't this jabroney ever watch "Law & Order"? It says it right up front: "The people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime..."
The idea that in any sane, rational universe there could be any correlation whatsoever between generalized criticism of police misconduct and the murder rate in any given locale is so asinine, it could only come from Andrew M*th*rf*ck*ng Sullivan.

Thanks for this article. In sort-of related news... holy shit, y'all. I was today years old when I found out that Glenn Greenwald, with Jane Hamsher, was involved in a (sadly minor) scandal revolving around the Accountability Now PAC. Specifically, if I'm correctly understanding what I'm reading, said PAC took in considerable donations between 2008-2010, but did not record any contributions to federal candidates. There appears to have been a small donation to PAUL FUCKING RYAN (like, seriously?!), which at least was refunded. But money collected by the PAC was used to fund FDL itself, as well as to pay Greenwald's DMDM Enterprises, as well as fringey (at the time, anyway) Libertarian groups.
In short, again if I've correctly understood, Greenwald and Hamsher were, unapologetically and in the clear light of day, scamming liberal donors for hundreds of thousands of dollars, spending LITERALLY NOT A SINGLE DAMNED PENNY of that collected lucre on the putative purpose of supporting liberal candidates, and lining their own pockets, and those of sympathetic Ayn-Randites.
Fuck, y'all. It's like The Lincoln Project back before there was a Lincoln Project, almost!
I'm partially dreading your inevitable NFRS cast series on Greenwald's fuckery. I don't like vomiting, and I expect hearing about GG's past will make me do a lot of it. (I do know about how he defended a white supremacist as his first and perhaps last legal case, so... you know, that's not a great place to start.)

I always said that the Confederacy which was a small few wealthy white plantation slave owners . Convinced all the other poor whites in the south to fight the Civil War by telling them the north is imposing slavery on southern whites and that these poor whites future of becoming wealthy and a plantation slave owner will be taken from them forever.
As if every poor white dude in the south at the time could become a white wealthy plantation slave owner. The existing white plantation slave owners did not stand for any competition and would stomp it out.
Without the slaves, the poor whites fear they would be replacing the slaves and they were a notch away from it as it was. No matter how awful life got for them. They could always pint to the slaves and tell themselves , "at least I am not as bad off as a slave". Although some (few) slaves where five enough education and better treatment as the house servants. Who lived better on average than many free white poor in the south at the time.
This is why the White supremacists in their Tiki torch parade chanted, "Jews will not replace us".
Todays language and extremist misogynists of the white superiority brain virus put a lot of effort and money into flowery notions by owed usage to condone while trying to put a pleasant scent to the rote dead fish.
I mean come on, they used religion and cherry picked passages of the Bible for legitimacy of God to justify enslaving other people for they could not prove the ridiculous adage it was okay to slave them because of their inferiority. How can that be. SCOTUS Justice after gutting section 5 of the civil rights act stated bpl and proud as supremely superior as one could be.
He said , Racism is over" with some reference that Obama who happens to be a black man if you haven't noticed, was elected president.
And sure Roberts may have not taken into consideration all the elevated and promoted hate based on racism by his own republican conservative racist party.
But hey, he said so therefore it is. As sure as Trump promising he will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it or all the violence and carnage will now stop because he and he alone can declare it.
