It wasn't a fluke.
It wasn't pilot error.
It wasn't instrument failure.
This is what Republicans wanted, and now they have achieved it.
For longer than I'd care to think about we have been warning anyone who would listen that the Republican party was building a monster machine, and that if this went on, it would end in tears and terror.
The Conservative elite laughed those warnings off as Liberal hysteria and crackpot alarmism until it was far too late. Now most of the Conservative elite bends the knee to the demons they created, while a few flail around trying to understand what just happened, and a fewer still seem willing to entertain the possibility that the Republican base they helped to create really are a mob or reprogrammable meatbags and completely lost to reason.
The legacy media mocked and ignored those warnings as absurd, or childish or otherwise unserious, or somehow too shrill and strident to be "tonally" acceptable. They categorically refused to see the danger coming for them with knives out until it was far too late. Now most of the legacy media bends the knee to the monsters they enabled, while a few stumble about looking for an answer -- any answer -- that doesn't implicate them.
As for me, other than being unutterably sad at the outcome of the election and fearful in a hundred new ways about the future, nothing has fundamentally changed in my estimation of the forces at work in our country. The Republicans party remains a fascist killdozer being run by hobgoblins and grifters. The legacy media continues to be a near-comatose husk of its former self, being run by amoral moguls and fascist-friendly cooperators.
The dangers have escalated and are much more immediate, but other than the fact that no one need bother with figleave hyphenates like "neo-" or "proto-" to describe what is very clearly our American fascist party, the job remains the same. Protect the weak and the vulnerable who didn't ask for and do not deserve any of this, support each other and take it one day at a time.
So whether you are a person of faith or not, whether in victory or defeat, this by John Wesley remains sound advice.
“Do all the good you can,By all the means you can,In all the ways you can,In all the places you can,At all the times you can,To all the people you can,As long as ever you can.”
Best of luck to us all.

Well said. Good luck to us all.
Having a bad bout of "Burn It All Down" at the moment... ~>X[
...I wish I could say that I was surprised, but gods, these people.
how long until Olbermann uses "killdozer"?
Now the election was rigged to me. To think I served and fought in war to defend my fellow Americans so they could live in freedom only to hand it over to the Hoover era bwealthy, the Hitler adoring now dictator who wants NAZI generals. As long as government power is used harshly to punish their fellow Americans they been assimilated to hate on.
I expect Trump to executive order everything to Big macs with fries to [adorning all his J6 traitorous criminal allies. What he can;t or doesn't E.O. McConnell will certainly rid the senate of the filibuster to accomplish what his billionaire donors paid for him to do and of course Trump will get his cut of the money to sign into law. Of course the SCOTUS is in place to rule to convince us that GW Bush is president sort of made up legal speak to help justify., Fact is, SCOTUS is off the hot seat from coming president defector now that Trump is elected.
Have a lot of considerations to endure. Looking at my investments to ensure marker crashing doesn't ham me as much .
There is some reflecting on the Democrats control of the senate. Why they did not ruthlessly use their majority to change things. Sure Manchin and the Arizona ditsy stood to preserve the filibuster and even Biden refused to entertain adjusting the imbalance of the federalist justices by adding to the court was passive in my opinion. How our justice system bent over for criminals backed by wealthy lawyers.
Right now, the aner level bubbles up with the thought that Americans who support and endorsed this political march to collapse of a nation. deserves every rotten bite of the apple they bit into.
Just waiting for another well-meaning conservadem to come along and explain to us that shit sandwiches aren't all that bad.
Fucking nailed it.
"Mutual Aid Communities" is the answer to a lot of the questions people are going to be asking going forward. Which is just a physically active organization that John Wesley's advice alludes to.
One day at a time, brother.
It’s worse than that, Drifty. It’s not just the Republican Party. Trump won the POPULAR vote. God help the rest of us. -bitterharvest
Well said Drifty. Now that the pathological right has the country by the short hairs, I wonder what will come of it. After this once every hundred years or so evil that seems to need to be fought, I can't help but think and believe the true left will find their spines and brass knuckles and engage. Maybe not in my lifetime. I don't know. But sometime. I just hope the remaining years I have aren't spent fighting, managing, running from overt and dangerous fascism. I just don't see how this isn't the time, when we're at our most vulnerable, the right doesn't come down full force with everything they can muster to blot us out. It's possible it won't be as bad as I/we imagine but with knowing the history of the right in this country and things being what what they are, you're living in a fantasy if you think it couldn't happen. All the bad things. The assholes that voted for this shit will hopefully have enough of a conscience to be tortured by what they've done.
This doesn't make anything you said incorrect, but Trump got a modest bump -- about a million votes -- over four years ago, while Harris is probably going to end up with about 8 million fewer votes than Biden got. All despite voting being much easier now than four years ago.
People didn't show up for Harris and (to the extent that I believe the numbers, some of which I don't) I don't know why.
That's the only semi-bright side to this: It's a way out of this that doesn't require Trump or his supporters to stop hating America, which they never will.
If they had enough of a conscience to be tortured by what they've done, the wouldn't have done it. And when the things they've voted for make their own lives worse, they will figure out someone else to blame. Cf. the South.
They don’t have a conscience. But, yes they will be tortured.
You didn't see Jon Stewart yet?
Hey, DG, anyone?
It seems to me that Trumpy is correct when he stated that, " America is a garbage can"
As the American garbage can fully accepted the trash as president.
some negatives a coming.
The massive cost and disruptions of mass deporting, An American president switches sides and aligns with Russia, N. Korea and Iran against our NATO allies. Even Canada loses its ally status.
Just who in the Administration is going to negotiate with Big Pharma for prescription drugs for Medicare, Robby Kennedy Jr.?
The repeal of the ACA. With concepts of a plan.
Elmo already promised economic hardship to teach us the character of being a peon under a oligarch. When Trump sends the secret service out to bring in Stormy for some personal relief against her will, The SCOTUS says for a president there is no law as long as he does it as president.
Congress cannot investigate him at all for his actions as president there fore they cannot impeach him with facts of wrong doings.
Since SCOTUS can accept fees for making laws through ruling so to Trump may Executive order for sale to the highest bidders.
What I want to know is, Can Biden declassify a fully loaded Nuke sub and take it home and keep it?
Wait until he pisses off some wealthy people by skewing them by selling law to help their competitor.
Or when he places one of Putin's top mean in charge of our intelligence (CIA).
He can make Melania Queen to inherit the UDA . Put his children on the SCOTUS.
I keep thinking of one of my favorite quotes from "The Stand": "We know the dark man is out there. We have to deal with him." The convicted felon elect is an existential threat and we can't roll over and despair.
