Professional Left Podcast Episode 980: Zombie Apocalypse
"My zombie films were all sort of satirical, with political messages. So I was doing them inexpensively and quietly off in left field somewhere."-- George A. Romero
The "don't make the fascists mad or they'll go back to being fascists" caucus is in blatant denial of 1) the fact that they're already fascists, and 2) the history of dealing successfully with fascists and what has been required each time. I had a wonderful English teacher in High School whose name was Stephan Miller (note spelling) who had classes in fantasy/satire (classic satire, Tolkein trilogy) and later Shakespeare, but in my junior year it was science fiction: Dune, Childhood's End, The Illustrated Man, and a compilation with some of the best stories ever (at the time). Note that this was in 1977, and most of us kids went to bed wondering whether we would be incinerated in our sleep. So it was timely that we also covered "Alas Babylon" by Pat Frank. It was a story of the devastation following a nuclear war that covered many of the not considered aspects of societal collapse: crime, suicide, sanitation, healthcare, food, etc. At the end of the story, a military helicopter flies over the town, and the protagonist asks the pilots "Who won?" to which they reply "We did, we kicked their asses." We went to the No Kings rally in Oakhurst today, and it seemed to be somewhat larger than the previous one last fall. I was impressed with the organization this time. There were political operatives working the crowd and now I know who to vote for for county supervisor, which can be tricky to figure out when nobody will run as a Democrat. Also, a very nice lady saw me get out of the car at the curb a ways down the hill from the corner where the rally was and took my arm and walked me up to the corner (I didn't really need assistance, but I went along with it anyway because connection builds community and why not take the arm of a nice lady?) and then she gave me a sign to hold up. I think her name is Margaret. I was impressed because a disabled guy with a quad-cane went from slowly hobbling up the hill to waving a sign that said "No human is illegal because Jesus said so" at the main corner just like that. Thank you again for the podcast. Today was the day that the neighborhood got together and burned all of the downed brush from the snowstorm.
This podcast was so packed with fun, I had to do a replay. Couple things;
1- If A president can take top secret documents that belong to American tax payers. Keep them for as long as he wishes because they have some of his dirty socks and underwear mixed in the boxes with the documents. Keepsake trinkets. When and if he leaves office at the end of his term. Can he stop by Fort Knox on his way home from the W.H. and mix his dirty laundry in crates full of Gold bars and take them home to kieep> ---Since 6 SCOTUS justices say he is above the law there is no crime if the president does it?
2- Another rig of the election by GOP. Trump is collecting personal voter information from the states. ---Registration info to how you vote. -He plans on rewriting the meaning of citizenship. -He wants his Save Act to force every single American to re register to vote with lots of documents to prove who you are. The Save Act allows the Federal Government to officially meddle in the right of the states to manage state election. He now is part of that.
Here is what he can do. As every single American must re register. The Adm. can now step in and decide if you art a citizen. This can delay your registration to vote until after the election and they have your personal voting info so if you are someone that hasn't voted Trump each time. Your voting registration can be held up being approved until it is too late to vote. They might as well pass a bill that makes it unlawful for any democrat to vote. You know all people registering republican and have voted for Trump in past will not even have to show their birth certificate as proof of citizenship to register and vote. He can offer deals to his immigrants in his immigration prisons. That if they will vote for him. He will register then and pronounce them American citizen's, (temporarily at least. If you are in prison and want out. He can pardon you if there is a way to prove you will and did vote for him. Conspiracy talk. From the guy who said in public that he could have pedophile sex with a6 year boy in broad daylight and shoot him dead in that light on main Street USA
Stranger things has happened........ Of all people, Met a person who is a British citizen hear on vacation as a tourist at a No Kings Rally.
