Chicago is an October sort of city even in spring." -- Nelson Algren

  1. My friend Rob used to drive for A&B towing, Oakland's version of the Lincoln Park Pirates, and he fucking loves that song. He used to take a piece of white tape and stick it between the uprights on the A in the logo on the door of his tow truck, so it read "H&B" for "hook and book." As far as I know, for the three years he drove for them, he never held a valid driver's license...
He certainly does now. Amazing what can happen in a few decades.
Ethos? Local variation on culture. Like how it used to be just expected that when the cops raided your house, they would shoot your dog. Had it happen to two different friends of mine.
Well, now CBP is pulling that same shit, to folks not guilty of anything and who had warned them that they had a dog that wouldn't like them in their house, and that the dog was safely in the bathroom. Opened the bathroom and shot him anyway.
I guess it's just what they do, if you let them.
No word on whether Kristi Noem had an orgasm when they told her.
Antifa's girlfriends kept the war machine humming stateside while Antifa fought world war two. Richmond, California, has an annual "Rosie the Riveter" festival to honor the women who worked in the shipbuilding effort during that war.
Thank you again for the podcast. Parkergetajob is awesome. So is Parkrose Permaculture, and the Knitting Cult Lady. The resistance lives.

Thanks again for an A+ lesson in history and American lit! Absolutely right that the Romans (as cruel as they were) were far more likely to give slaves freedom ("manumission") than the plantation owners. And in fact freed slaves could become citizens in the Republic. The ever practical Romans saw former slaves also as potential political supporters. The Roman elite, unlike the pathetic Southern white nationalists, *knew* they were better than everyone else so they didn't need racism to make them feel superior.
