Professional Left Podcast Episode 938: Republicans in Disarray

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits." -- Matthew 7:15-16.

  1. The hospital I was born in, St. Joseph's in Eureka, CA, is obviously a Catholic hospital. It's also the largest hospital in town, and as of a few years ago, the only operating ER in town. A few months ago, a woman pregnant with twins whose water had broken, and in need an emergency abortion to save her life, showed up at the ER there. They refused to treat her, gave her a bucket of towels for the blood she was hemorrhaging, and suggested to her that she get a helicopter ride to the Bay Area, because she likely wouldn't survive the drive by car.
She managed to get to Mad River General in Arcata, a few miles to the north, where they gave her the care she needed.
She is now suing St. Joseph's with the backing of California's AG Rob Bonta. This to point out that that law requiring hospitals to stabilize a patient and render such emergency care as is necessary to save their lives is already not sufficient to get patients with reproductive issues the care they need, even in this bluest of states.
Gingrich? Shit, the goddamn media would be promoting Lee Atwater if he were still among us, and not the semi-repentant Atwater of his post-cancer diagnosis time.
There's not really much to say about Fergus and his administration at this point. We already said it, and now he's doing everything we said he would do. We will find out how much our system is able to protect itself and us from his onslaught, and then we will find out how much of the damage he did can be reversed, when we get our turn at governing again.
Hopefully, we can get a better shot at it than we did last time when Manchin and Sinema were enough to stop us dead in our tracks.
Meanwhile, I'm just trying to stay alive amid the ongoing health issues I've run into since July. Three more years?
    Maybe. I hope.
Thank you again for the podcast. The descriptions of the ICE raids sound all too familiar to me, having had the cops raid my house on multiple occasions. They don't care what your house looks like when they are done. They don't care whether you have shoes on when they take you to jail. And those are just regular cops, not the enhanced bastardness version being fielded by the Fergus administration.
