Well, for a day like this only Hunter S. Thompson will do:
"It seemed normal enough, at the time, just another weird rainy night out there on the high desert….What the Hell? We were younger, then. Me and the Judge. And all the others, for that matter….It was a Different Time. People were friendly. We trusted each other. Hell, you afford to get mixed up with wild strangers in those days — without fearing for your life, or your eyes, or your organs, or all of your money or even getting locked up in prison forever. There was a sense of possibility. People were not so afraid, as they are now.
You could run around naked without getting shot. You could check into a motel in Winnemucca or Elko when you were lost in a midnight rainstorm — and nobody called the police on you, just to check out your credit and your employment history and your medical records and how many parking tickets you owed in California.
There were Laws, but they were not feared. There were Rules, but they were not worshiped….like Laws and Rules and Cops and Informants are feared and worshiped today."
After serious consideration. If I were present on that day when a Roman king offered release of death row prisoners. With the choice being Jesus or Barabbas. This Agnostic leaning atheist would ask for the innocent of crimes to be set free knowing the other had committed crimes knowingly and often and was guilty. Silly as it may be to republicans whose market their religion, their law and order and business superiorities who would not only disagree with me, but persecute me for my own personal views of the matter. I am not saying anyone else is i the role of Jesus. Bu What I am saying is republicans again continue to provide favor to Barabbas.. As I read somewhere, We have no vaccines for republicans and there is no GOP rehab centers that are effective.
It is over. I don't see how anything remotely familiar to the post war America survives at this point. Yeah all things change, empires rise and fall, blah blah but it's quite different being inside of it. It's not reading a Wikipedia entry about the end of the Roman empire. These people are forcefully taking away the country and it's personal. It's the end of even the illusion of rule of law and the collective agreement to abide democracy. It feels like one of those times that try men's(and women's) souls and the gravity of it is genuine. We either lay down and let it happen or there's a serious and fierce resistance. After decades of watching with anger, disbelief, fear, confusion and sadness because of Republican rat fucking, witch hunting both Clintons, Obama and Biden, stealing the 2000 election, the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, Citizen's United, the constant lies and propaganda from Fox and all conservative media without substantive pushback, the financial crisis, enabling the wealthy with nonstop tax cuts and slashing social programs, the solidifying of a far right wing supreme court, ending roe v wade, trump....I'm really ready to break some shit.
