You misspelled:
ReplyDelete"The moving finger writes, and having writ
Moves on, nor all thy piety nor wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a line.
Nor all thy tears wash out a word of it."
Hope this helps.
(Alternative, from Marvin Kaye's stage adaptation of his and Parke Godwin's novel A Cold Blue Light:
"The moving finger writes and, having writ,
Moves on and does not give a single shit.")
Butter cow? When I was five, we had a milk cow, and that cow produced so much milk that the seven of us never even drank it, we mostly fed it to the hogs. We had cream. On everything. Cereal. Berries. Homemade ice cream. And of course, butter. Picture my mom, brother and sister and I sitting in front of the TV watching a brand-new show called Star Trek, each with a gallon jar of cream in our laps which we shook until it turned into butter. And that is how I don't get freaked out about how much butter all of the state fairs use for their sculptures.
ReplyDeleteYour letter writer's take on Tim Walz reminds me of my own take on president Biden. I voted for Warren in the primary, and Biden got more of her policies enacted than she could have.
My hope is that the Harris campaign is reaffirming Biden's belief in the fundamental decency of the American people. He deserves at least that.
Here's to a day when we don't have to hear about or care about Fergus any more. Meanwhile, I believe people are getting tired of it, and of him. I remember in the thick of the 2012 campaign seeing a video of a little kid complaining to his parents "I'm sick of Bronco Bama and Mitt Womney!" That kid is probably voting in his first election this year, and hopefully he's still fed up with the mountain of bullshit.
Thank you again for the podcast. I was wondering whether you had podcasted about the Massey shooting and I'd just somehow missed it.
I sent you a picture of Lemmy the cat. When I told Briana (by text as she is in Oakland) that Tim Walz had said "91 days? That's easy. We'll sleep when we're dead!" She responded that it's always nice to have a politician quote Lemmy. So I had to remind her that "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" is a Warren Zevon song, and that Tim Walz has said that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not a legitimate institution as long as Warren Zevon is not in it.

Do you feel the JOY? I do.
ReplyDeleteI figure by ensuring Harris/ Walz election win gives us a bonus of Trump obscurity as TNC chair of sucking funds from the GOP future. That MAGA can not get behind any other republican because they cannot imitate Trump. Like the Cicada, MAGA goes dormant until the next second coming
It is not fear I sense Trump election plans go as.
Brag of all the polling that shows Trump way, way in lead. Ensure all GOP controlled State b republicans are ready to undermine the election and cause election Chaos. Enough not only to sue in courts over but to hand it to his Federalist Society SCOTUS justices who are willing to do his whims.. He wants the notion of pools for the courts to overturn the ballots.
Not so sure his MAGA Gestapo is willing or organized to pull off the violence he deployed on J6.
It would be easier for the SCOTUS majority to hide behind a president Trump deleting the constitution except the 2nd Amendment. But the court will be there and must be dealt with with a Harris victory.
Otherwise even with a Dem majority in House and senate. What ever they pass the GOP will sue directly to the SCOTUS and they will rule it as institutional for excuses and reasons.
The Billionaires that are buying America to get what they want are the same ones that since Hoover lost. Have been funding the KKK, John Birch, They bought Reagan from the Democratic party, They have ideas of how to remake America and how us little insignificant people should live.
It causes me a sad when I think about how I served, sacrificed, risk my life and fought war for the deense of America and its constitution for people tlike MAHA who claim they are the special patriots and heroic defenders of the constitution. When they actually know little of the constitution just like how they are superior in their religion and everyone should convert forcfully to their projected religion they themselves do not adhere and know littel of what is in the Bible. With much of that let for interpretation of the individual.

Delete"“What was required in a Party member was an outlook similar to that of the ancient Hebrew who knew, without knowing much else, that all nations other than his own worshipped ‘false gods’. He did not need to know that these gods were called Baal, Osiris, Moloch, Ashtaroth, and the like: probably the less he knew about them the better for his orthodoxy. He knew Jehovah and the commandments of Jehovah: he knew, therefore, that all gods with other names or other attributes were false gods.”
