Bush is somewhat responsible for that little idiot getting elected. After 9/11, Iran offered its sympathy and the US put them on the Axis of Eeevillll. I don't know enough about Iranian politics to say whether the other guy had a chance, since the Ayatollahs had to approve all candidates, but Ahmadinejad's victory was a big middle finger to the Great Satan. Heckuva job!
