Driftglass and Lockswriter at Tanagra

In the comment section of a previous post, Alert Commenter "lockswriter" explained the impossibility of even basic communication with Trump voters in a way that made me laugh,

And laughter is in very short supply these days, so...
I've about given up trying to communicate with the Children of Trump. Practically every word out of their mouth is an allusion to some myth or legend that only they understand.

"OBUMMER! His face black, his birth Kenyan! Pizzagate's children, their faces wet! Killary, her army at Benghazi… ARRRGH! Seth Rich when the walls fell!"

Yep.

  2. P.S. I wrote that above comment before I read the below post.

  3. Greatest analogy evah!

Unfortunately, summarizing the Epic of Gilgamesh with gestures won't help us breach the language barrier with the Trumpists.

  7. So that is what it is. The Trumpanzees are aliens that need to be deported.

The bus rides back to Youranuas is going to be expensive.

We cannot leave them here to terror form the earth........

  8. Captain, all attempts at communication leave the universal translator with its springs hanging out like an overwound cuckoo clock.

Geordi, that's absurd. It's a multitronic device. It doesn't even have springs.

Oh, I haven't even gotten to the absurd part yet, captain. Now, moving on from the springs to the water wheels...

  9. Still one of my favorite TNG episodes. Wish we could just warp away from these dangerous inscrutable "aliens."

  10. If you're looking for a laugh, you might check out The Greatest Generation podcast (in all of your spare time)! It's a genuinely funny Star Trek podcast "by two guys who are a little embarrassed to have a Star Trek podcast". It's two film guys reviewing every Next Generation episode in order. Fun stuff to listen to when you need the laughing-without-crying kind of laughing (I remember that kind of laughing...)

It's a nice break from this American apocalypse.
