What Kruger and Dunning "discovered" is a statistical phenomenon known as "regression to the mean." However, because the two of them were statistically incompetent, they didn't realize this and went on to write a bunch of rather silly and, in retrospect, embarrassing papers. What makes this amusing (since the sub-field of social psych is full of people who know no stats) is how they, therefore, lived their own "theory." They didn't know enough stats, but thought that they did. Which is half of the K-D effect.

Too bad it's the lower half.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363027.post-74859462148789668592009-02-07T11:32:00.000-06:002009-02-07T11:32:00.000-06:00palin-dunning/plumber-kruger 2012! we had the dec...palin-dunning/plumber-kruger 2012! we had the decider; now try the declarers of stuff! important stuff! with gravitas and freeper appoval for all!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363027.post-22740382902518130092009-02-07T00:23:00.000-06:002009-02-07T00:23:00.000-06:00Is this the pilot for America's Smallest Dink?;>...Is this the pilot for America's Smallest Dink?

;>)darkblackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06584075324283109495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363027.post-49829358029003471662009-02-06T19:03:00.000-06:002009-02-06T19:03:00.000-06:00"The affliction of the ignorant is, they are ignor..."The affliction of the ignorant is, they are ignorant of their ignorance."

PS: Mr. 'Glass thanks for your gracious mention of USojo the other day; your rambunctious minions dropped by in surprising numbers and clicked around our castle.Michael Harthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01966652190979739751noreply@blogger.com
