Politics Is The Art of Controlling Your Environment

From Hey Rube: Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and the Downward Spiral of Dumbness--Modern History from the Sports Desk by Hunter S. Thompson:

Politics is the art of controlling your environment. That is one of the key things I learned in these years, and I learned it the hard way. Anybody who thinks that ‘it doesn’t matter who’s President’ has never been drafted and sent off to fight and die in a vicious, stupid War on the other side of the World — or been beaten and gassed by police for trespassing on public property — or been hounded by the IRS for purely political reasons — or locked up in the Cook County Jail with a broken nose and no phone access and twelve perverts wanting to stomp your ass in the shower.
That is when it matters who is President or Governor or Police Chief. That is when you will wish you had voted.

Just a random thought (I do love your blog, btw)...

But has anyone else ever remarked that it looks like Rodin's "Thinker"... is cutting a supernova... fart?

Making him actually... a super-celestial "stinker"?

Just thought I'd share.... reference: your masthead.

Namaste....

Such strong words from a very strong point of view.

But is weak around the edges like Chuck Todd. Who cannot tell you who he is assailing to vote for.
He omits that there were enough that did vote and how they cast it.

Small trivial note, "those who have been "drafted and sent to a stupid war" is how different than volunteering with the expectation you won't be sent to fight a stupid war?

This, this, this.

Now, can someone send this off to Susan Sarandon and all the other purists out there?

And it's a good thought, Condor. I might further speculate that the Latin phrase in the masthead could translate to "I demand that you smell my colon."
