Since I'm also having my 53rd Saturday it behooves me to warmly congratulate DriftMom on her exemplary taste in birthdays.

In civics sanity & madness coexist about as well as mixing Champagne with Night Train. With industry gone high-tech & global, one toxic vote can snuff civilization out forever, so votes logically require at least as much regulation & control as guns. Psychopathy & sociopathy are now easy to reveal with cognitive tests, so incorporate them into registration & don't let the failing motherfuckers get a vote - or a nomination.

My sister's birthday is today, also. She got her year's gift when the Santa Rosa fire stopped a block and a half from her new house. I didn't know she had moved, and freaked the fuck out when I called her to see if she was OK and the landline number she had for more than a decade said "The number you have reached has been disconnected or is no longer in service."
We kinda laugh when we hear them disparage California, like "Yup, you're right. So don't ever come here, you'd hate it." Like we used to do back when Oakland had a "scary" reputation: "Yup, you'll probably only get killed if you're lucky..." It worked for a while, but not any more: the median price for a house is $700,000, and rents are through the roof because so many people want to live here.
And I understand those women trying to figure out how to keep their benefits (but not their hypocrisy) as we were scrambling to find a place to live two years ago, and there just isn't anything in Oakland for what I can pay with my SSDI, but I get my healthcare from Highland Hospital, which is an Alameda County Medical Center place, and they're the best, so we stuck it out and found a way to keep living in Oakland so I could keep my doctor and my access to the good stuff, where healthcare is concerned. I'm a lot better now than I was after my stroke, and a lot of that has to do with Highland and the ACMC, so I'll do what I have to if there's any possible way to pull it off.
Thank you again for the podcast, it's really important to have voices like yours speaking sanity in such times as we are living through.

Let's hear it for the great American north eastern Orangutan

Who does not think sanction punishment on Putin Russia will make things better or help Putin understand their is prices to be paid for his attacks.

While sanctions on N. Korea (which he called useless and politically correct nonsense during the election "I bomb the shit out of them", as I recall.

But sanctions on N. Korea strong on Russia weak.

Punish Canada with tariffs on steel just to show China what Trump's capabilities are. To make China cower? After the punishment Canada got?

Where did the ghosts of china economic loans to USA go? Those ghoulish chants that China will call in our loans and end life on Earth as we know it?
Because it was nowhere to be heard when the GOP added $2 trillion on Trump's platinum presidential credit card?
And thank Trump for not placing tariffs on Platinum used on his credit card?

Was this boxed and filed away at the Heritage Foundation for the next Halloween spooky House?

The GOP with their tax cuts of enriching and picking and favoring certain people and business with their tax cuts.
The same socialism that happened at GW Bush's final presidential economic collapse ideological product.

Not much difference in this tax cut vs Bush's bail outs as far as socialism goes.
The problem is , I sense rich people (their heirs to their thrones) are not capable of creating and making things for profit. Products worthy and market sustainable.
But why invest their own money into new things when government republican socialism for the corporate world is right their to take personal risk out of the big wealthy investors head aches.
Gamble with other peoples money, again.
