All Your Base Are Belong To Trump

Trump is The Party and The Party is Trump

Fellow Libtard snowflakes of a certain vintage may remember that, many years ago, as the Bush Regime collapsed and the sheer tonnage of the disasters it had left in its wake began to dawn on even the most belligerently apathetic citizens, most of the Beltway media suddenly fell into a giddy swoon over the sudden disappearance of millions of Republican voters (who had energetically cheered on those disasters) and the sudden and simultaneous appearance of millions of newly minted "independents".

Of course, to the untutored Libtard eye, this was obviously nothing but an insultingly bare-faced hoax (from me, long ago) --
Most newly minted “independents” seem to be little more than Republicans who are fleeing the scene of their crime, but at the same time still desperately want believe in the inerrant wisdom of Rush Limbaugh. They are completely incapable of facing the horrifying reality that they have gotten every single major political opinion and decision of their adult lives completely wrong, so instead they double-down on their hatred of women and/or gays and/or brown people and/or Liberals, and blame them for the miserable fuckpit their leaders and their policies have made of their lives and futures.

Like German soldiers after the fall of Berlin, they have stopped running away from the catastrophe they created only long enough to burn their uniforms.
-- that quickly grew into a full-blown, well-financed racket in which millions of depraved Limbaugh-drunk Republicans who were eagerly complicit in every Bush Administration atrocity were magically transformed into millions of  depraved Limbaugh-drunk "Tea Partiers" who had never even heard of George W. Bush.

And, of course, the mainstream media went right along with the hoax because telling the country that it was fucked in the head because the Republican Party was run by and for seditious madmen was not a story the gutless jellymen of the mainstream media were ever going to report.  And very quickly the  dissonance between the obvious fact that the "Tea Party" was a massive Republican Base re-branding scam and the equally obvious fact that the media Would Not Talk About It became so...tectonic...that it produced an almost palpable tang in the air.

The reek of raw, corporate power over who owns the cameras and the microphones and the networks and the "journalists" being wielded to snuff out the truth in favor of a Comforting Beltway Fairy Tale.  And into this withering headwind of denialism, a few dirty hippies kept shouting that, no, this is not the truth,  This is bullshit.  There. Is. No. Tea, Party.  And you all damn well know it.

It was a lonely and deeply unpopular beat, and I'll bet it bored the hell out of many of you :-)

And then one day, long after the damage had become irreparable, Conservatives as disparate as David Brooks and Joe Scarborough finally, laughingly, began admitting that, yes,  it had all been bullshit.

Golly, isn't that just fucking hilarious!

So why rehash all of this now?

Because once again the telltale stench of something monstrous and unnatural is on the wind.

Once again we are witnessing a sharp uptick in the official word-salad doublespeak used to avoid talking about the Republican party base because the simple and obvious explanation behind yet another repulsive Republican phenomenon -- that fact that Donald Trump did not manufacture the racist meathead base of the GOP but was manifested by the racist meathead base of the GOP -- is too fatally incriminating for the corporate media to permit.

Once again, corporate media power, wrapped in baroque gibberish, is being brought down like a hammer on an inconvenient truth.

See if you can spot it!

From the inimitable Blue Gal at Crooks & Liars who has been all over this story since August of last year ("Don't You Dare Call It 'Trump-ism'"):

Trumpism Without Trump: A Losing Formula in Swing-State Virginia
Democrats send Trump and Trumpism a firm message with election night thrashing
From Newsweek:
OBAMA CELEBRATES VICTORIES OVER TRUMPISM AND THE GOP IN VIRGINIA AND NEW JERSEY
Trumpism Without Trump Doesn’t Work
From Vox:
Ed Gillespie’s loss shows Donald Trump has made Trumpism toxic
Trumpism Without Trump
Is Tom Cotton the Future of Trumpism?
From (sigh) Crooked Media, who should damn well know better:
A BODY BLOW TO TRUMPISM
And my personal favorite, from ABC News:
The Note: It's Trumpism vs. the Democrats in Virginia governor's race
Once again, the actual, racist, paranoid, rage-drunk Republican Party as it has existed for my entire adult life has all but disappeared from the media's tale of what happened last night.  Disappeared and replaced with a wholly fictional Comforting Beltway Fairy Tale which the media and the Serious Minds of American Conservatism would much rather blather on about.

In 2009, Republicans could not be held responsible for the concatenation of catastrophes that the Bush Administration left in its wake, because suddenly there were no Republicans anymore.  There were only innocent, patriotic, God fearin' Teabaggers, who had never heard of George W. Bush.

In 2017, there is once again no Republican Party to be held responsible for what happened on election night because, suddenly, there is only "Trumpism".

Except, (sing it with me now)...

There is no "Trumpism".
There are just Republicans being Republicans.

There is no "Trumpism".
There are just Republicans being Republicans.

There is no "Trumpism".
There are just Republicans being Republicans.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

On the other hand, noticed by Digby,

"More than anything, what seemed to upset the people I spoke with was the National Football League players who have knelt during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality.

“As far as I’m concerned,” Frear told me, “if I was the boss of these teams, I would tell ’em, ‘You get your asses out there and you play, or you’re not here anymore.’ They’re paying their salaries, for God’s sake.”

“Shame on them,” Del Signore said over his alfredo. “These clowns are out there, making millions of dollars a year, and they’re using some stupid excuse that they want equality—so I’ll kneel against the flag and the national anthem?”

“You’re not a fan of equality?” I asked.

“For people who deserve it and earn it,” he said. “All my ancestors, Italian, 100 percent Italian, the Irish, Germans, Polish, whatever—they all came over here, settled in places like this, they worked hard and they earned the respect. They earned the success that they got. Some people don’t want to do that. They just want it handed to them.”

“Like NFL players?” I said.

“Well,” Del Signore responded, “I hate to say what the majority of them are …” He stopped himself short of what I thought he was about to say.

Schilling and her husband, however, did not restrain themselves.

“The thing that irritates me to no end is this NFL shit,” Schilling told me in her living room. “I’m about ready to go over the top with this shit. We do not watch no NFL now.” They’re Dallas Cowboys fans. “We banned ’em. We don’t watch it.”

Schilling looked at her husband, Dave McCabe, who’s 67 and a retired high school basketball coach. She nodded at me. “Tell him,” she said to McCabe, “what you said the NFL is …”

McCabe looked momentarily wary. He laughed a little. “I don’t remember saying that,” he said unconvincingly.

Schilling was having none of it. “You’re the one that told me, liar,” she said.

She looked at me.

The NFL?

“Niggers for life,” Schilling said.

“For life,” McCabe added."

Regarding Virginia, just maybe, letting Nazis and Klansmen march in your towns, run down and kill a female protestor, and then market "All Lives Splatter" t-shirts wasn't such a bright idea.

"The most terrifying words in the English language are, I am from the government and I am here to help".

Ronald Reagan

Who government is;
Executive Branch - Republican

U.S. Senate - republican majority

U.S. House of Reps. - republicn majority

Supreme Court - republican majority

State Governors - majority republican

State legislatures - majority of republican , republican state legislatures..

So when Government says they will repeal and replace the ACA, when they say they are going to reform taxes and it won't add to the debt and we will all live healthily ever after. They are going to make us free by allowing corporations to be above any laws financial or environmental harms they would normally be accountable .

So when any republican (that Trump thing included) tells you they are here to help you.
Remember, Reagan told you how scary help coming from the government is.

And the government right now is the very government Reagan wanted the republicans about.

So if Reagan's words are the scariest in the English language. I wonder, if those words are translated into other languages if they are as scary?

If Trump had Putin translate Reagan's words into Russian. Are they just as scary?

Reagan as president was governmen--Kookyt. So he was talking about himself just as much as our present government.

Yep ...self delusion is the worst kind of delusion to have.
It is a wilful ignorance and it is not BLISSful ... just plain stupid!
And IT is dangerous because it allows the stupid to doubledown and/or repeat its errors without any self reflection, sense of irony, shame, guilt or responsibility!
The STUPID is strong in this bunch formerly known as Republicans/teabaggers/Dixiecrats/Moral Majority/etc.

Here in Virginia, Democrats won what they won because Democrats, mostly women (despite the guys at the top of the ticket), ran as Democrats, leading with Democratic values. Their opponents weren't Trump or Trumpism; their opponents were Republicans. Women led the Resistance from the beginning, up through GOTV. All of them who I talked to were anti-Trump, of course, but they were and are well aware that Trump is a Republican, just like every Republican on the ballot and every Republican voter, just louder (usually) and more obnoxious (usually), but in terms of policy, no different. I'm confident that at the grassroots level Democratic women won't let the media get away the nonsense to which you refer.

Jeff,,,

Nice to here from someone in Virginia on this. Thanks.

Very much want to see the battle taken to Alabama over Pope Roy Moore.

As one of my Senators (of the GOP stripe) is in re election mode for 2018.

She made sure to have it printed in the local paper she has just shored up and received full support of the local "Anti-Abortion for God organization".
So proud. If only they could evolve to be able to just say NO. Like they ask of us with drugs and guns.
It is a old and tattered alliance for the GOP and their sprinkling the weeds in the grassroots.
Much of the elections were hope inspiring.

If you think of it, let us know how the recounts of the undecided state races for legislature turn out.

In before "Trump without Trumpism" retcon!

Beware of pricks in suits bearing sporadic taxonomic enthusiasm.
