Republican Women Have Spoken

And this is exactly what they sounded like.

From CBS News:
Surprisingly, given all of the attention to Trump’s attitudes and behavior toward women, he did virtually as well among white, Republican women (91 percent support) as he did among white, Republican men (92 percent). Clinton was more competitive among white independent women than men, losing to Trump by a 49 to 41 percent margin among independent women and by 57 to 31 percent among independent men.
Remember these women.  They chose this.  They wanted this.

Remember that Republicans did not win yesterday by playing nice and cooperating and agreeing with Democrats, in the spirit of comity, to set aside our differences for the good of the country.

They won by spending thirty years and billions of dollars honing their rage and paranoia on the whetstone of racism and ignorance.  They won by seeding the corporate media with quislings and collaborators and fellow-travelers who made sure the camera would never focus on that rage and paranoia and racism and ignorance, and that they would never pay any real price for fucking up everything they touch.

I have no idea how this all ends, but I know the only way we come back from this is by finally listening to people who actually understand how these fuckers think and not Beltway bubble muppets.

Yeah, I think we can put to rest the falsehood that people want to vote for Hope, not Hate.

It needs taken out back along with the hope that the demographic shifts are going to "save us" anytime soon.

One of the things that troubles me right now, damn there are a lot, is that this will embolden the DLC types. Think I will just go sit with my horse, man was this election a kick in the head.

I was going to leave a long ass post. But, screw it. Everything I could say, was said much better in this Kevin O'Leary article in AM Prospect: Trump and the Racial Politics of the South: The legacy of slavery and segregation creeps northward. http://tinyurl.com/pph2gt9

"In the Old South, racism was the key to preventing an alliance of poor whites and poor blacks that would threaten both white supremacy and the continued power of the planter aristocracy. This was especially true after the Populist revolt of the 1890s when, for a brief period, poor whites and poor blacks united in a common cause against the upper crust. The response by the Southern oligarchy was twofold. First, the white elite disenfranchised nearly all blacks and a good portion of the white working class with a variety of political and economic devices, including the infamous poll tax and changes in the system of land tenure that caused white smallholders as well as blacks to become sharecroppers. Second, the planters and their urban business partners developed and perfected a brand of politics based on turning poor whites against blacks to head off the biracial coalition of working-class blacks and whites that could again threaten the power of the bourbon elite. By 1910, virtually all black elected officials were expunged from the states of the former Confederacy, along with nearly all black voters."

That's the new plan Stan.

Rebecca's post Wonkette pretty much sums it up for me: http://wonkette.com/608425/go-fuck-yourself-america

Its funny, I've lived outside the US for 15 years (yes, voting and paying taxes) and for 15 years I've defended the US to European and Asian friends and colleagues who criticize the country without any first hand experience or knowledge. I'd tell them "Oh, the US isn't that bad, it isn't that way!". Well, yes, it IS that bad and it IS that way. Fuck.

Baby boomers are sucking up all the benefits that their parents' generation fought for, and are pulling up the ladder behind them. Shake things up! they got theirs already. Meanwhile, Gen X still can't move up the ladder, and we're in our fucking forties now by the way, because Boomers still hold the top positions. And we'll get coupons for buy one doctors visit at $500, get one half off, and pennies on the dollar for our social security. They got jobs that turned into careers right out of high school, or went to college that cost a fraction of what it costs today. Bought houses that tripled in value, sold those, bought second houses that tripled in value again, sold that and bought a condo here and a condo in Florida. This generation bought houses, and maybe they got all of their money back out, if they were lucky. Boomers so royally fucked their children's generation, and they do not see it. It's hard to be angry at parents, aunts and uncles, they are all good people!, but generationally... what a bunch of entitled pricks, which is how they see us, wanting the same or at least a facsimile of what they got.

Yet, the Trumpkin voter, and Trump himself, are already being recast as a Jacksonian anti-establishment electoral win by frustrated masses.....period....end of report.....nothing said before midnight last night ever happened.

The media already turned Trumpkin voter into The American People. We lost on so many levels.

Now get ready for life under the Ryan budget.

You know the well-known rape proponents' argument that the ladies are just asking for it? Maybe there actually are women like that--"Pussy-grabbing makes me feel special!"--and they vote Republican. Not that I want to find out, just a plausible hypothesis to explain this anomalous data.

Intended as a generalization I assume.

I heard some R women on NPR extolling Trump's "virtues." None of them wanted to talk about the pussy-grabbing. Rather, they talked about how Trump was going to take us back to the "golden age" of the 1950s (when minorities knew their place), as well as take away a women's right to choose (a big favorite of these authoritarian rightwing women, if there ever was one, even though many of them get abortions, themselves).

There is also a program on Sunday afternoon called the Barbershop, where they interviewed a Trump supporter (who had then been hired in some capacity in Trump's campaign), a Clinton supporter and an alleged Independent. The Trump employee refused to discuss the pussy grabbing comment and got VERY hostile and agressive with the reporter for daring to ask about it.

My take? A lot of R women voted for Trump because they believe he'll be Big Authoritarian Daddy who'll put the minorities in their place and give Whites the upper hand. If some women get groped in the meantime? Well, doncha know: IOKIYAR always applies. ALWAYS.

As a country, we have survived worse: the civil war, the world wars, the great depression, etc. As a country, we will survive this, also. Some citizens will not survive it, as their health insurance is about to be taken away as retribution for Obama making fun of Trump at the correspondents dinner. I'm just really glad that I had my cataract surgeries last year when the ACA was still in effect to help pay for them.

As someone with a pre-existing condition who remembers the scams previously run by the HC industry whereby I would get initially rejected for HC, but later on the DL offered a highly expensive crap HC plan with a high deductible, I want to tell all the republican voters (paraphrased from wonkette) to Just go fuck yourself, you racist piggy white power pieces of shit. I'm so embarrassed to be an american, especially in the south.

White Republican women of culture and refinement, who for the last three decades have never failed to remind us of their devotion to traditional Christian values, have by virtue of their own hypocrisy in voting for Donald Trump thus reduced the inherent meaning of those co-called values to a mere five words:

"Grab 'em by the pussy."

Middle-aged female here. These women have major "Big Daddy" issues. I see it all the time. They need the approval of men, the more powerful and old the better. They absolutely live for it and will excuse any abusive and disrespectful behavior on the part of men to get it. Big Daddy issues usually go hand in hand with fundy religion, however I see it more as a throwback to our primate ancestry.

The fact remains that Trump was right in line with Romney's totals and Hillary underperformed Obama by SIX MILLION VOTES.

The whys and wherefores are up for debate, but the mathematical fact is that the election was not won by Trump, but lost by Hillary.

Kathleen said...

@traghan Yeah, let's throw minorities under the bus. Voter suppression played a key role in losses in Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Of course no one wants to talk about that.

I agree with BF above. What happened to the amazing Clinton GOTV effort? Or does the ground game not matter anymore with Fox News and Facebook doing the work?

No kidding, they were basically handed paradise and squandered it, leaving us a barren wasteland. Sure, that may be a generalization but in the aggregate it becomes more true every year.

I'd like to say that it is a pleasure to visit a place where no one is so stupid and clueless as to blame liberals, or whine about Bernie Sanders, or talk about Clinton's emails. Where everyone gets it, that this is the triumph of the Republican white base. Where some even dare to suggest that the game is over, the fight is done, the efforts to date to jigger elections to favor Republicans will be exceeded in the years to come. And of course to know that some of us have been right all along and are right now in saying: America, you broke it, you live with it. Thanks, Driftglass, for putting the truth in clearer and more colorful language than I can. I read your stuff to my family, "Here is today's lesson from Driftglass."

From inside the White House lockerroom.

Trump; You know, when you are president. They let you do all sorts of things.

Bannon; Like what?

Trump; Like the other day I was at area 51 and reached down and grabbed this alien right by the pussy.

Bannon: Really ?

Trump: And all the staffer girls Putin provided as staff to the White House. They are gorgeous.
