Mock the clowns - shake down the ringleaders.

Nothing clarifies the corporate mind quite like the prospect of a hundred million wallets slamming shut in the morning. Mergers are pursued in part to ease this kind of blow but the results are nonetheless major & can even be literal brand cyanide. Brand loss is the apocalypse of corporate culture, as either re-branding or brand launching involve epic expense with a substantial threat of failure. Pepsi, Ford, Comcast, McDonald's, Wal-Mart, Apple et al pay very polite very close attention the moment enough sincerely pissed off proles slap a big rude unwashed foot on their fiscal oxygen hose. Sponsors will "encourage" the networks to recast their bordello of Lauers, Scarboroughs, Todds & Krystals as Cholera Non Grata if their returns mutate into serious enough costs.

Boycotts outgun any peaceful protest & are both safer & easier.
Liberalism needs to force-feed some concentrated ethics to its Inner Capitalist Pig.

I’m not quite on board with the Marty Baron part of the podcast.

WaPo announced Baron’s becoming Executive Editor in November 2012. The NYT’s first article on the Clinton email story was in the late-February/early-March 2015 timeframe. Therefore, Baron had been WaPo’s Executive Editor for over two years when the story broke.

Driftglass says (45:17 mark):
“So today the Washington Post, in a massive reversal of the pandering to this story that they have been doing for months (or for a year, at least), the Editorial Board decided you know what the Hillary Clinton email thing is way way overboard.”

Which means all that pandering took place under Baron’s watch. Which is inconsistent with Driftglass’ comment at the 48:24 mark “he [Baron] hates one thing above all else, and that’s really shitty news coverage.” And inconsistent with Blue Gal’s assertion at 48:31 that “he particularly hates it when journalists make the profession look bad.”

WaPo’s reporting of (as opposed to commentary on) the story has contained uncorrected errors and innuendo from the get-go. As an example, see thinkprogress’ recent piece on Chris Cillizza’s role in all of this. Which makes me scratch my head over why Baron gets a pat on the back now after being part of the problem for over a year.

Morning Joe is in full retreat. They are begging their audience not to blame them for the Trump monster. All the free airtime and softball questions given Trump doesn't count.

Good morning, Mr. Glass.

"But Dad, David Brooks says the forces of Lawful Good are just as wrong as the forces of Chaotic Evil. There has to be balance!"

"During the War of the Lance, David Brooks was calling the paladins the 'Knights of Stupid.' Don't fall for that True Neutral crap."

Be seeing you.

If everyone played AD&D, Kevin, the world would be a far better place.

"Accidental Death & Dismemberment" doesn't sound like that much fun, but OK :-)

Good evening, Mr. Harrison.

Considering the cooperative aspect of rpgs in general, it couldn't hurt.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
