Well This Was Predictable

As one disreputable nobody once noted long ago...
Whenever there is home headline-grabbing barbarity somewhere in the world that is in some way related to those who pervert Islam to serve horrific ends, you can always -- and I mean always -- count on two things.

First, America's premier, globe-trotting, indignance-chasing attorney (who, somehow, is still not being held incommunicado in some lightless super-max prison cell) will be johnny-on-the-spot to set up his card table right in the center of it so he can angrily pamphleteer passer's by about the real tragedy.

I see videos of him bloviating on teevee fairly often, so he can't be too worried about super max hell holes any more...

Hey State Rights.
Let the states. Each on their on, fight ISIS.

How about letting each state decide for themselves who is on the no fly lists. Who can get off it.
Each state can decide for themselves if terrorists can buy guns and explosives.
Why does the republican Congress want to control everybody?
The right for Consero-fascists shall not be infringed.

I think the no-fly list is stupid, but I think it's great that there would be another way to check if you're on it than attempting to fly. Then maybe more people would notice that they're wrongly on it and it could bring systemic reform.

Glenn Greenwald can lick a dick, having the story of the decade dropped in your lap doesn't make you a great journalist.

Yeah, as usual, Glen says some big words from guarded ex-pat filled penthouse high rise in one of the most wealth un-equal, socially segregated cites in one of most wealth un-equal, socially segregated countries with one of the most endemically corrupt and repressive "democratic" governments on the planet.

But please, Glenn, show us your awesomeness and go on about how Rep. Lewis LOVES him some suspicion-based terror watch lists.

I would expect a glibertarian living in a nation with almost twice America's gun death rate to be balls out for the free flow of any and all guns in a society.

Glennie Pie is mad that the news lately hasn't been something he can attach his pet issues to. He's withering in that ivory tower without a sprint

Oh, and Benjamin? Telling Glennie Pie to lick a dick isn't much of an insult on its face, considering he's gay. Plus let's not denigrate the use of tongues in proximity to genitalia.

On another note; the smart, pragmatic Democrats tell me "falling" for acts like Rep. Lewis' (arguing in support of one's beliefs, even if you don't have the votes) is nothing more than "wishing for a sparkly pony".
Where are the smart, pragmatic Democrats who will tell Rep. Lewis to "grow up"?

This really is the problem. If all he did was refuse to weigh political trade-offs, he'd just be an Overton window pusher for civil liberties and Palestineans, and that'd be fine (they need some). But he attributes actively destructive *motives* to people who are obviously making political trade-offs (which is how he ends up in a place where John Lewis is a gleeful advocate for the police state), giving lots of wiggle room to people who advocate policies they'll very likely drop once they're on a position to act on them, and never acknowledges that he himself makes decisions based on factors other than deeply held principles, even though something as obvious as his *address* betrays that fact.

It sucks, because I think he's right about most of the issues he talks about, and stuff like Gaza needs passionate advocates who won't shut up. But calling people who vote Democrat willful murderers because they want better health care and not to have Klansmen in office is of little help, especially when he personally *refuses to vote*, thus keeping his own hands clean.

I wish he would regularly point out that the reason Democrats can afford to hold undesirable positions on the issues he talks about is the opposition party, which is at least as bad on all of those issues and worse on the vast majority.

Why would I care about what a Brazilian thinks about US politics?

Fuck Glenn Greenwald and the white horse he rode out on.

I like Greenwald and he has a point more often than not. That some of us on the left don't like having our pols similarities to the Bush regime brought to light says much about introspection on our "side".
