MSDNR

As MSNBC's Assisted Suicide Watch rounds the clubhouse turn.

From Talking Points Memo:
MSNBC's Harris-Perry Says She Won’t Appear On Her Show After Pre-Emptions

Frustrated with what she described as a lack of editorial control, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry told the New York Times on Friday that she will not appear on her show this weekend.

“Our show was taken—without comment or discussion or notice—in the midst of an election season,” Harris-Perry wrote in an email to colleagues that was obtained by the Times. “After four years of building an audience, developing a brand and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.”

The MSNBC host expressed frustration at having her regular time slot—10 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday—taken over for coverage of the 2016 presidential primary. Though Harris-Perry told the Times she did not know if her show had been canceled, she said she felt “betrayed” by network executives.

An NBC News spokesman told the Times that Harris-Perry’s reaction has been “surprising, confusing and disappointing" to the network.
...
Now close your eyes and imagine the bloody stump Phil Griffin would pull back if he ever dispatched an underling to tell Joe Scarborough that they were gonna yank his show for reasons that don't include him but he shouldn't worry his pretty little head about it.

The days of MSDNR are upon us.

Off topic DG, but I really wish Krugman would toss you a link now and again, you really are doing his footwork for him: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/26/opinion/twilight-of-the-apparatchiks.html?_r=0

They're upset with Melissa's reaction? "Hey, we're just completely undermining you and your show,Melissa. Why do you have a problem with that?"
Way to go, MESSNBC.

I'm thinking that MSNBC looked at the Faux Snooze model and decided that it was the wave of the future despite the fact that Faux has a steadily declining audience of white olds and, outside of the 65+ conservative demographic outright TV propaganda doesn't work much. I don't know where this Griffin guy is coming from but if he thinks a mashup of the worst of CNN and Faux is a successful network business model, he is cray-cray. Don't have the stats but I wouldn't be surprised if all the changes are driving down the ratings still further.

@Jimbo I believe ratings ARE up slightly actually, but call me back in February 2017, and let's take another look. We've actually found a case where a rising tide lifts all boats, but that tide is sure as hell gonna head on back out.

By the way, word is now that MSNBC is looking to can (50% chance) Jose Diaz-Belart from his morning show. To be replaced, of course, by something from the Squint and the Meat Puppet collection. Yet another minority shown the door. #MSNBCSoWhite

Note: Jose Diaz-Belart has 2 brothers serving in Congress (Republicans) from south Florida, 2 of the 3 "friends" that never get challenged by the DCCC. Thanks Debbie Wasserman Schultz!
