They're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

If you're feeling dizzy and nauseous from media idiocy deja vu, this post from August will help explain why:
He Can’t Go Down With Three Barrels On Him!

Sure he can:
New NBC News/Survey Monkey Poll: Donald Trump Still in the Lead After Debates

If Donald Trump's comments about Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly are hurting his standing in the Republican primary, it's not showing in the numbers.
According to the latest NBC News Online Poll conducted by SurveyMonkey, Trump is at the top of the list of GOP candidates that Republican primary voters would cast a ballot for if the primary were being held right now.
The overnight poll was conducted for 24 hours from Friday evening into Saturday. During that period, Donald Trump stayed in the headlines due to his negative comments about Kelly and was dis-invited from a major conservative gathering in Atlanta.
None of that stopped Trump from coming in at the top of the poll with 23 percent. Sen. Ted Cruz was next on the list with 13 percent...
Last August, for a few days "Trump + Fox + "debates" + a fight!fight!fight! with Megyn Kelly" was the hot junk news that the entire Beltway "covered" like a pack of weasels in heat.

Donald Trump, in Feud With Fox News, Shuns Debate

Donald J. Trump and Fox News, the candidate who has reordered the Republican presidential race and the cable network of choice for many of the party’s voters, stared each other down on Tuesday over his demand that the news anchor Megyn Kelly be dumped from moderating Thursday’s debate, the last before Monday’s caucuses.

The network did not blink. So Mr. Trump walked.

Mr. Trump’s announcement here that he would “probably,” or would “most likely,” or was “pretty close to” irrevocably planning to skip the debate — an aide put it more directly — created a gaping uncertainty at the center of the Republican nominating contest just as it was formally about to begin in Iowa.
...
It's a circus, and what is a circus without clowns and acrobats in tights and monkeys riding tigers.

The only real question has ever been, "Who is the ringmaster?" and from where I'm sitting up here in the cheap seats, it sure looks like Donald Trump.  Because once the squabbling mole rats at the RNC who are still allegedly in charge of the Republican party and sanctioning Republican gladiatorial contests established precedent by kicking the odious Rich Lowry to the curb because his presence would annoy their ratings rain-maker Donald Trump --
National Review publisher Jack Fowler told BuzzFeed News in an email Thursday night that he was not surprised that the RNC had rescinded its invitation to the magazine to co-host a GOP debate next month. “That said I would argue that the RNC should have waited for someone to complain, if someone was going to,” Fowler said. “The presumption is that our moderator / participant would not have asked an intelligent / fair question.”
-- why is it now suddenly unreasonable for The Donald to expect other Republican debate organizers to bow to any of his other peremptory challenges?

Nailed it again. Wonderful stuff!
You're really good at this, i.e. flensing the bullshit. Which raises the question why the well-cosseted members of the punditocracy are so bad at it? [And so well-cosseted?]

Anyway, you may be familiar with the article at ThinkProgress that (citing Roland Barthes) ascribes it to everybody treating it like a boxing match (a contest to see who wins) when Trump knows it's really wrestling (an entertainment spectacle nobody would be foolish enough to bet on as they would a boxing match).

A point of view also encapsulated in the comment of Mr. Helpman in the movie Brazil as to why the terrorists are doing what they're doing:
"Bad sportsmanship. A ruthless minority of people seem to have forgotten good old-fashioned virtues. They just can't stand seeing the other fellow win. If these people would just play the game..."

Now if we just substitute MSM or even Nation Review for Mr. Helpman and Trump for "terrorists" . . .

Morning again, Mr. Glass.

Waiting for Ms. Kelly to get dumped under the bus by her bosses again...

Be seeing you.

All the Ringmasters are dead.

(update)

Just here to state, for the record, that Fox didn't appear to throw Ms. Kelly under said bus. I was wrong.
