Rosanna Pulido is “thrilled to death” that Donald Trump is coming to Springfield on Monday.
“It’s going to re-energize the troops,” she said.

The Trump campaign announced Tuesday that he will have a rally at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in downtown Springfield at 7 p.m. Monday. The center, with standing room, can hold about 10,000 people. Tickets are free and can be obtained through evenbrite.com.

Pulido, 59, who moved to the capital city this spring, hopes to be a delegate for Trump at this summer’s Republican National Convention. She said she runs Facebook groups called Latinos who support Donald Trump, and Pray for Donald Trump. A Chicago native of Mexican descent, she has been active for more than a decade in opposition to illegal immigration. That included working as a “minuteman” keeping watch on the Arizona-Mexican border, and starting the Illinois Minuteman Project, which highlights problems brought by illegal immigration.

She also won a special GOP primary but lost a special general election for Congress in 2009 in the old 5th Congressional District, where U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, D-Chicago, took the place of now-Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel when he left Congress to become chief of staff to President Barack Obama.

“Everyone around the country gets energized” by Trump’s candidacy, Pulido said. “I think part of the buzz for Donald Trump is leadership. People are dying for it.”

“It’s a great feeling,” she added, saying Trump’s theme of “make America great again” is “just off the charts for me.”

So come to the cabaret. (h/t Brother Charles Pierce)
