Profoundly Stupid Shit Andrew Sullivan Says, Ctd.

You mean like all that tax money the Cheney Administration took from me and gave to Halliburton so we could slaughter brown people in Iraq?

And do I get all that money back now?

Because back then I had a really good, full-time job, but since then, let me tell you, things have been tough! I lost all of that and so much more in the Bush Recession, and I'll never see a fraction of that kind of income ever again, so all that extra "Iraq War Refund" dough would sure come in handy!

You know every now and then it becomes hilariously clear that, just like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and David Brooks and all the rest of Conservatism's very special people, Andrew Sullivan has never actually met a real, honest-to-goodness American Liberal in his entire fucking life. That, just like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and David Brooks, Andrew Sullivan's entire schtick would vaporize and blow away like SnoCone in a blast furnace if it were not propped up by an endless supply of Imaginary Dirty Hippies.

Which, in the abstract, is really quite funny, but in practical, dollars and cents terms it means that punching the fuck out of Liberals like you and me is what pays Andrew Sullivan's mortgage, what made David Brooks' mansion possible, what put $30 million dollars into Sean Hannity's pocket and what permits Rush Limbaugh to own a private jet.

So the irony is that while I may be broke and barely hanging onto the bottom rung of the economic ladder down which I have fallen so very far, slandering Liberals like me has grown into a huge and very lucrative industry.

Fiunally, I can also guarantee that no court will ever order this mob of con men and fascists and lunatics who reap such gargantuan dividends from lying about us to stop doing so based on our conscientious objection to being publicly slandered by them day after day after day.

PS.  Proper "Thank Yous" to everyone who hit my tip jar will really, truly be forthcoming once things get a little more settled down on my end.

Good afternoon, Mr. Glass.

Smart-ass correction:

"I hope liberals grasp that being required to fund something you WRONGFULLY believe is murder is form of conscientious objection"

Enjoy your day.

Actually, you touch upon the reason that I have come to despise the Really Existing DFHs in One Country who actually do exist and who actually do conspire to throw elections to the Republicans so that etc, etc, etc.

Because every time I start screaming at the Andrew Sullivan Bokanovsky groupers who infest my life, all they have to do is point at David Atkins and smirk: point proven! Every liberal is a smugly arrogant little cheese eater, with a blog and the awesome power that comes with being a mighty big shot in your county political machine.

Because if course liberals don't pay taxes...
Only Right wing nut NAZI gas bags pay taxes..
I won't wish a neurodegenerative disease on anyone, but if Rush Limbaugh gets Parkinson's disease he won't think he's so damn clever mocking Michael J Fox.
The rest of the radio turds better just hope to God that they don't get a disease which could at least have a hope of treatment EXCEPT snowflake babies so they voted against any such scientific nonsense. I'd do anything to have one of these lying sacks of crap spend 48 hours locked in a nursing home to witness firsthand the effects of neurodegenerative diseases. Maybe then they might bitch a little less about how they don't want to spend their precious tax dollars on something they dont believe in .

Oh that wasn't his best from yesterday. His best way claiming David Brooks is a liberal and always was because he's still advocating for interventionalism in Iraq and that true conservatives are all libertarian isolationists now.

As for his "imaginary hippies" I do assure you they are very real. However unless you live in well off areas of certain coastal cities you don't encounter them. And the reality is the Democratic party gets that a parties base is worth using for votes, but should never be listened to or let anywhere near the levers of power.

That's where Republicans fail and why the Democrats are fit to lead.

Anon,

Funny you should mention it. I was putting together a short response to that very post when I ran across this Tweet.

This is why neither Andrew Sullivan nor David Brooks ever debate in any venue where anyone might bring shit like this up.

I'm not sure whether that's the best-ever description of the tea-heads, or an insult to Epsilons (a thing I would've sworn was impossible, but no Epsilon ever made a choice to be stupid, or had the opportunity to be not stupid).

The problem with that way of thinking is that some members of the base may figure out how they are being used and leave, and perhaps even enough will leave to change the outcomes of a few elections.

Here's how we solve all of this.

First, we stop voting for Democrats and stay home. Or, we go and vote the Unicorn/Rainbows ticket.

Then, there will be a mass uprising.

Afterwards, boom! Utopian social democracy!

Indeed, no Utopian social democracy in the USA if the Reptilians prevail. None if the Dinocrats prevail, either.

But the USA is not the world.

Because the Reptilian wing of the Property Party, and the faction of the Malefactors of Great Wealth which owns the RwPP, are indeed the morons which Driftglass and his amen corner believe they are, they will eventually bankrupt the USA, destroying its miltary and covert-action might, if they control the USA.

No other country on Earth has the power-projection capability to supplant the USA as global enforcer of capitalism.

Without US armed might, the oppressed peoples of the countries once called, collectively, the "Third World", will have a better chance to throw off the organized, systematic pillage which goes under the name "capitalism".

A few of them might even manage to create "Utopian social democracy", but human nature being the wretched thing it is, I wouldn't bet on it.

The Dinocratic wing of the Property Party, and the faction of the MOGW which owns the DwPP, might actually be smart enough to keep capitalism alive, if they control the USA.

Driftglass and his amen corner hope that if they can just somehow get control of the Empire, they can convert it into a kinder, gentler Commonwealth, hence they support the Dinocrats.

First off, let me say 'Amen' to Driftglass, because otherwise PurityBrigadeMember™ Monster would be a liar. And PurityBrigadeMembers™ only speak truth to power.

Now that I've got that out of the way, I'll go ahead and summarize your post.

"Let the Republicans win so that they destroy the world I pretend to care about while I lecture about my purity."

"...so they destroy the world..."

The world?

I only spoke of the destruction of capitalism, and perhaps the fission of the USA into a few regions--not the destruction of the other nations of the planet, much less of the planet itself.

Does n1ck think the USA is the world?

Monster from the Id,

Jesus Christ, what a pantload that is. Recent history - the last 13 years - have illustrated the difference between bad and worse, particularly with regards to the destruction of people and places overseas. While you are in good company with wanting to see an end to the US big-footing cluelessly around the world, it is astonishing how you've talked yourself into believing that enthroning the "Wreck-it Ralph" party is somehow the more charitable outcome for (brown) people around the world. There should be a Hippocratic Oath for political participation.

Step 1: Let evil "morons" in the Republican party take over the House, Senate, White House, and Supreme Court.

Step 2: Pretend that Republicans in charge of the most powerful Empire in the history of the World do not have the capability to cause problems elsewhere in the world. It was Democrats and Democrats alone who attacked Iraq, after all.

Step 3: Pretend that Republicans in charge of the most powerful Empire in the history of the World wouldn't use that military to strike at any and all competitors for US power and hegemony. Because...well, we don't need a reason as PurityBrigadeMembers™, because we know it's true. Or at least an inconvenient piece of information.

Step 4: ????

Step 5: The rest of the world is peacefully existing while luckily evil "moron" Republicans have only split the country up into pieces.

Jesus, that bit of "logic" is even more terrible than the logic that if we just let the Republicans control the entire Federal government that we'll somehow get a nice social democracy out of it.

Honest question: are you required to be reminded to breathe?

n1ck,

It is pretty fucking awe inspiring isn't it?

Historically the US has suffered through periods of shit leadership, domestic mismanagement, and foreign blundering before. As hard as it is to believe, this isn't even the worst things have gotten in any of the above categories, yet somehow the Republic soldiers on. While I can well imagine an end being just around the corner, the assertion that the end will be decided by the next Presidential election is not supported by any precedent from the last 100 years.

But here is the thing: If one truly believes that the present course of the US, domestically and abroad, is unsustainable and immoral, why would one eschew efforts to soften the inevitable landing and limit the damage during the descent?

Nonny:

Exactly.

The US is the world's most powerful Empire, ever.

As a non-sociopath who despises Empire and the power and corruption inherent in them, my responsibility as a non-sociopath is to elect the least evil politicians that I can.

If the least evil politician is in office when an actual "good" revolution occurs, then it's probably a good thing. If the least evil politician is in office when a situation arises where the more evil politician would cause destruction, then it's probably a good thing.

I find it hilarious that people who loathe Empire and drone terrorism think that the best possible course to take is to let the most evil "morons" have total control of our Empire's power.

Ultimately, there reasoning must be that if we just let the evil "moron" Republicans win every election and have total control, somehow we're going to end up with a social democracy...because something something mass social uprising, something something utopian social democracy!

Of course, PurityBridageMembers™ will tell you that the answer is to vote for Unicorn/Rainbows 2016, but that results in the most evil politician winning and is entirely counter-productive.

If you're interested in changing things, work for it. If you're just rooting for catastrophe and violence because you're too Pure™ to vote for the least evil politician, then you aren't really Pure™, are ya?

One side of my mind roots for those things, n1ck. The other, shrewder one does not. (I'm assuming there are only two sides of my mind. I may be mistaken.)

However, it hardly matters what I (we?) want or don't want. What the blind forces of evolution and culture cause to happen will happen. I'm 51, so maybe the system will endure long enough for me to die of something else first.
