History Repeats Itself, First as Tragedy, Second as Farce...

Now if the President or Padishah Emperor or King of the Andals or whatever the head of our puppet government in Iraq is weak and corrupt, well shit, just sack him and put in someone else. Hell, Ahmed Chalabi is currently "at liberty" as the vaudevillians used to say, and I hear he works cheap!
...and Fourth, as an actual proposal being floated by Serious Foreign Policy Professionals as seen on  David Gregory's "Meet the Press" and Shuck Todd's "Guess That Soup!" show on MSNBC:
Wolfowitz Sees Chalabi as Viable Iraq Leader Even With Iran Ties

By Nicole Gaouette  Jul 3, 2014 11:00 PM CT

Ahmed Chalabi, the Iraqi who helped spur the U.S. invasion of his country, would be viable as its next prime minister though close ties he established with Iran pose an impediment, said Paul Wolfowitz, a top American national security official when the war launched.

“The man is a survivor,” Wolfowitz said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capitol with Al Hunt,” airing this weekend. “That’s impressive. I think he wants to succeed in what he does, he’s smart; maybe he’ll figure out a way to do it.”

Chalabi, 69, currently serves in Iraq’s Parliament as government forces battle insurgents who have destabilized the country and prompted calls for Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s resignation.

Chalabi’s political group, the Iraqi National Congress, supplied Wolfowitz and others in President George W. Bush’s administration with information that tied then-Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to al-Qaeda and alleged he was developing weapons of mass destruction -- the justification for the U.S. invasion in March 2003.

The information was later discredited and in May 2004, U.S. soldiers raided Chalabi’s house and offices in Iraq to investigate allegations of fraud and grand theft against him...
I'd laugh a lot harder at those silly furriners for trying to turd-polish an unrepentant Iraq War con man and pathological liar like Chalabi into a serious candidate for Prime Minister were it not for the fact that my very own American teevee and political system is positively festooned with an army unrepentant Conservative Iraq Wars criminals, con men, bigots, frauds and lunatics being treated as serious thinkers and astute men of world every single fucking day of the week.

Chalabi is an unpolishable criminal turd. That piece of crap sold out the US at every turn so praise from a war criminal like Wolfowitz is predicted.Apparently he forgot that Iraqis are aware of said turd minions criminal history so there's that.
Finally, how is getting closer to Iran going to help reconcile Suni and Shitte in Iraq?
The jackassery continues

Funny how the "liberal"media keep remaining us of all the lies and garbage that came from people like Chalabi and is still being propagaded by Cheney.
Unless they don't.

Driftglass,

Who would have thought that George Orwell would eventually be seen as such an optimist, well at least compared to today’s real time events of; “an army of unrepentant Conservative Iraq Wars criminals, con men, bigots, frauds and lunatics being treated as serious thinkers and astute men of the world every single fucking day of the week.” (Kind of like “Groundhog day” on meth and Drano staring George “the lesser of all things” Bush)

Your banner quotes Ray Bradbury about preventing the future, but evidently you can’t prevent the batshit crazy. Because the batshit crazy have cut in at the head of the line to the future and it’s now “The lathe of heaven” every day, and the George Orr’s of our time are programmed for full force dystopian expansion.

But what the heck, as long money keeps rolling in and no one gets hurt.

Wolfy wouldn't know a viable petri dish of Ebola even if he was bleeding from his eyes.

But Driftykins! Larry Elder says that there were lots and lots of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that were all moved to Syria, and the evil liberal media elite conspiracy didn't tell us about this. So that means that Chalabi wasn't a con-man and he should be Prime Minister of Iraq! Right? Right?

Mr Roboto--

Well there's that, and the fact that...

In their never-ending, parallel reality ballgame faux curveballs never hang because they are, according to the calls of Umps-For-Life like Mr. Wolfowitz, the 'high hard ones'.

Or some such codswallop.

Really, words fail me on this. Chalabi was long ago exposed as a poseur, liar and de facto Iranian agent with no grassroots support in Iraq. And Wolfowitz still believes in him? WHY is this man on national teevee?

I can't believe that we are doing it again with this dude. First time, shame on Bush and Cheney. Second time, Shame on Obama. Please tell me that we learned the first time.

Funny story, Iraq is an artificial nation created after WWI, and was purposefully designed to pit the Sunni minority against the Shiite majority.

This was standard imperial practice, to pit the locals against each other so they stop revolting against foreign rule.

Iraq's fate can't be up to us. Staying involved is the worst thing we can do.
The best thing, IMHO, would be to handcuff the entire Bush Administration, airmail them to Fallujah, and stay the fuck out of the way.
