Tea Party Leader Explains What The Tea Party Wants

They really aren't that complicated.

Because.  There. Is.  No.  Tea.  Party.

As we Liberals have said many, many, many times before -- as we were saying immediately after they appeared on the national scene and were slobberingly embraced by the national media as a Totally New Awesome Shiny Object -- the Tea Party is nothing more than the same, cranky, white pig-ignorant GOP base voters who have been flinging the United States off of one cliff after another for most of my adult lifetime.

The same, old (very old) coalition of bigots, fundies and assorted other proudly ignorant meatsticks (tarted up for the cameras with a drizzle of "intellectuals" and think-tank manikins and a sprinkle of a few self-loathing minorities) that have been the bedrock of the GOP since Nixon -- a mob of lobotomized shouters who cheered for every treason and catastrophe of the Bush Administration at 120 decibels right up until he started to lose.

After which their private unhingement started to become exponentially more public.

Then came the Black President, after which they lost their shit completely and forever.

But of course, Serious People in Polite Society are never supposed to recognize such things, so instead of doubling over in laughter when millions of Republican meatsticks put on tricorner hats and hied their fat asses down to the local Ramada Inn to rally in favor of everyone pretending they'd out for a short beer for the last 20 years or so...the Mainstream Media went right along with the scam.

As one reviled, loser wrote back in 2009, while Very Serious people like David Brooks were ooh-ing over all of these newly minted "independents" that were suddenly abroad in the land, the word "Independent" had lost any meaning at all
Nobody knows what “independents” want, because “independent” as a modern political category is a textbook example of what Kurt Vonnegut defined in "Cat's Cradle" as a "granfalloon":
"...a proud and meaningless association of human beings"
Because “independent” can mean any-damn-thing, or nothing at all.
As the same, reviled loser wrote back in 2009 as the protobaggers were figuring out where to order Gadsden Flags in bulk:
And based on simple observation, guess who appears to be the largest group of late-blooming independents?

Those fucknozzles who, after giving Dubya the longest tongue bath in modern political history while calling everyone else a traitor, started gagging on the sheer tonnage of bullshit their creepy idolatry of George W. Bush was requiring them to swallow and obediently regurgitate every fucking day, that's who.

Most newly minted “independents” seem to be little more than Republicans who are fleeing the scene of their crime, but at the same time still desperately want believe in the inerrant wisdom of Rush Limbaugh. They are completely incapable of facing the horrifying reality that that they have gotten every single major political opinion and decision of their adult lives completely wrong, so instead they double-down on their hatred of women and/or gays and/or brown people and/or Liberals, and blame them for the miserable fuckpit their leaders and their policies have made of their live and futures.

Like German soldiers after the fall of Berlin, they have stopped running away from the catastrophe they created only long enough to burn their uniforms.

But they fool no one.

Except, apparently, David Fucking Brooks.
Actually, I got that last bit wrong: turns out they fooled a whole lot of wealthy, influential people in the press because so many people in the press got to be and wealthy, influential by being just such colossal fools.

All of which is made geomentrically more depressing when I go back to my archives and note that, yep, I sure as shit predicted this exact phenomenon 2006 during the height of the Age of Boosh:
... In five years, having voted for Bush will have become the parachute pants of this decade.

It will become the “Oh my GOD. What the fuck was I thinking?” shameful secret people will occasionally and elliptically allude to by piping up with, “well, he did good after 9/11” as schoolchildren are taught what a disaster on every front and by every measure he was, and as adults who now have to pay and pay dearly for the myriad lies and crimes and follies of George W. Bush recount his Top 100 Fuckups and bitterly laugh and laugh and laugh.
As I said, Teabaggers really aren't that complicated.  They only made to appear so by their collaborators in the national media who categorically refuse to call them out by their real name.

Tea Birchers are just warning 'Murica about the Treason of Non-Reactionary Presidents

Agreed, Grung

If anything, the Tea Party fuckwits are just birchers with different names.

I found this article from 1964 about Paranoia in American politics to be particularly relevant.

Speaking of the tea party and what it wants, there's a fascinating study out from Democracy Corps. I don't think there is much in it that will be unfamiliar to those of us who really understand the GOP base, but it's a fascinating read anyway (in a grim, distressing kind of way).

Find it here: Inside the GOP. It focuses on each of three groups within the Republican base: evangelicals, the tea party, and moderate Republicans.

The bottom line is simple: Republicans are done. They have drawn the line and they will participate in this country NO MORE, unless they can rout the Democrats and force a full retreat. short of that, they will refuse to cooperate with anything that happens.

And just think of this: We're only just at the beginning of the 2nd Obama term. He's not even nine months into the second term. As 2016 and the prospect of another Democrat being elected looms larger, the hysteria of the GOP base is only going to intensify.

It won't be surprising if they government remains in a permanent state of partial shutdown for the rest of Obama's time in office.

The next question is when do they impeach him? I'll be surprised if there aren't hearings underway by March of 2014.

In other news, did you see that Fox News is reporting that Obama is paying out of his own pocket to keep a Muslim museum open during the shutdown? Watch the video, and how they slip it right in as a contrast to the World War II veterans fighting to keep the most patriotic of all memorials open -- you know, the one that Obama only closed because he hates America so much.

We can't reason with these people. They will not relent. And they wield enormous power, including the power to shut down the federal government.

What are we doing to do? How is this going to be fixed?

Jack, the Fox news bit was another instance of them biting on a satiric website as if it was real. They will, of course, never mention that it was a mistake but simply move on to some other outrage that gets their viewers all wee-weed up.

Also, I saw on Great Orange Satan that after a week of the House Governing-by-Tantrum, polls are indicating that the House may be in play in 2016.

Please proceed, Republicans. Not like you're considering being reasonable about a damn thing from here on out anyway.

I hope the wise zombizzle meant 2014. I don't know if the country can last 'til 2016 with these fuckheads holding a gun to its head. Somebody's bound to pull the trigger before then.

Hi Zombie,
Yeah, I saw that Fox was claiming to have been fooled by a work of satire. But I have a hard time believing it. It seems unlikely they would pass along such a remarkable claim without fact checking it first. No one who follows politics seriously could believe Obama would do something with such terrible optics. I feel certain that Fox knew it was a false story, but repeated it anyway because it fuels the impression of Obama as a Kenyan Usurper.

Jack, you're probably right. Of course it's obvious that Obama would never do such a thing, but the Fox News axis has been prevaricating about his calumny and evil for so long, that they get kind of excited and sometimes things just happen.

OBS is right, I meant 2014.

Which, of course, supports Jack's point about impeachment ramping up sometime in early 2014. They have to get that rickety jalopy moving before they lose the House, and have no ability start the process. Of course, they seem unable to comprehend that such a thing would turn the electorate even further against them. Look at how the Turdwaffle recall went; many Wisconsinites voted to keep the slug in office not because they didn't hate him, but they viewed the process as illegitimate. And Obama is not only cleaner than Clinton, he's more popular.
