The Day The Left Stood Still

This one is just for my Memory Book.

From the Washington Post:
In Syria, U.N. inspectors find ‘clear and convincing’ evidence of chemical attack

By Colum Lynch and Karen DeYoung, Published: September 16 E-mail the writers
UNITED NATIONS — U.N. inspectors found “clear and convincing evidence” that large quantities of the nerve gas sarin were used last month in Syria, the first confirmation by an internationally recognized team of experts that a chemical weapons attack took place.

The inspection report, presented to the U.N. Security Council on Monday, does not assess blame for the attack. But underlying evidence included in the report, including the trajectory of poison-filled rockets, was cited by the United States and its Western allies as proof of the Syrian government’s responsibility.

The inspectors’ conclusion “confirms the position of those of us who have said the regime is guilty,” French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called the findings “beyond doubt and beyond the pale,” and a clear evidence of a war crime.

“The results are overwhelming and indisputable,” Ban said. “Eighty-five percent of the blood samples tested positive for sarin. A majority of the environmental samples confirmed the use of sarin. A majority of the rockets or rocket fragments recovered were found to be carrying sarin.”
...
I just wanted to note the date and time when Davis Sirota's "Obama the narcissistic monster" theory:
Yet, despite all that, and despite the government’s recent history of lying about WMDs, the pro-war crowd nonetheless simply assumes that what the Obama administration is alleging is unquestionably true. Making such an assumption is, in part, another expression of narcissism.

Simply put, conceited narcissists don’t seem to care whether the entire case for the war they are advocating is actually rooted in verifiable fact, because their focus is on their own feelings. More specifically, they care only about their desire to feel heroic, righteous and moral, whether or not the entire narrative that makes them feel that was is actually true. Additionally, they know they don’t have to fear any consequences of ignoring evidentiary questions and focusing on their own desire to feel heroic. After all, even if the case for war ends up being a fraud, it won’t personally affect them because their beloved cruise missiles won’t be blowing up them or their families.
And his adjunct, "The whole thing may very well have been cooked up by Pentagon greedheads!" theory
No doubt, the government’s motives for a war with Syria have little to do with moral opposition to chemical weapons. The geopolitics of Syria affect everything from oil to Iran to Israel to the defense budget – and those concerns might be what’s really driving the push to war. But the public sales pitch for war cannot dare admit that because such a truth is taboo.
both went up in smoke.

Not that I believe there is any chance that any of that will matter in the slightest to Mr. Sirota: come feast or famine, traffic-trawlers like Mr. Sirota will remain as smugly invulnerable to inconvenient external realities as any teabagger.

And as sure as God made sharks and men to jump over them, tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that Mr. Sirota will be right back in Salon or on MSNBC earnestly pushing yet another imbecile iteration of his Worse Than Boosh line of hipster hair gels and hemorrhoid unguents.

NPR, for one, broadcast interviews with doctors and other rescue workers who treated the victims and their reports and descriptions were extremely credible. Also heart breaking because these people suffered terribly before they died and there was nothing the doctors could do for most of them. That's why I just couldn't believe there were idjits out there saying they weren't convinced that the attack even took place and did anyone even have actual, ya know, proof? Well they've got it now.

Both Russia and Communist China, even blocked aid, for the people of Syria.

If I were Obama? I would ship all the Chinese, Russians and the bad Arabs, back to their own countries and close my borders.

Harper is handing Canada over to Communist China, resources, resource jobs, our farmlands and all, for a minimum of 31 years. There will be thousands of Chinese here, to harvest all of Canada's resources, including our High Arctic. Harper just gave another oil company to Communist China. This time it was Novus Energy.

So if I were the U.S. I would most certainly close my borders. Canada seems to be a haven for terrorists and the Chinese Triad, were let into Canada as well. Most Canadians don't want Communist China, on our Canadian soil, what-so-ever.

You may have jumped to conclusions a bit Driftglass. Russia has said it is ready to present evidence that the chemical weapons used on August 21st were used by the rebels. I am highly skeptical, but it may b correct.

We're already selling our natural resources to the Chinese, including our food production. So we will get all of the pollution of it, and none of the food.

I don't get what the big deal is? We (by which I mean the people who count, and that's not most people) have already decided to live high off the hog while we are here and fuck whoever else gets screwed over in the process. The only question is if we will do that while being a bunch of bible thumping god bothering idiots, or if we will do that being a bunch of socially libertine party animals. Sex, drugs, music, and video games sounds a lot more fun to me than bibles and church, it's why I'm a liberal.

But getting worked up over the looting of natural resources or the destruction of our national wealth is beyond insane. You don't have a choice in this, you're deluding yourself if you think you can change it. The only way to fight it would be violence, and that's something the left long ago gave up. As such, the people selling it all off for their own enjoyment have no reason at all to be scared of you, or give a shit what you think.

Vote your social values, and enjoy the show!

I don't recall President Obama stating he wanted US to go to war with Syria. I heard him say he wanted to prevent further use of chemical weapons on the Syrian people. It appears that implementing a diplomatic solution towards that end is in progrss and I'm relieved. If that makes me a narcissist then so be it.

"they care only about their desire to feel heroic, righteous and moral"

Projection, of course. But it takes a really obtuse person to not check out for themselves if the projection angle works.

Why can't Sirota defend himself against his own attack without being pushed? Why do we need several rounds of us saying "projection!" first? Is it really too hard to say "projection!" to yourself? Especially when you attack for a living?
