Empathy's the natural limbic byproduct of ambient symbiosis, without which we'd all surely have to whistle in the dark in short order.

The idiom of Weberian verstehen seems to imply that concrete empathy needs a deep understanding of the other's environment & experiences to persist, to the point of actively identifying with them. Stereotyping is kryptonite to empathy, & everybody's doin' it, doin' it doin' it ... because things get extremely messy - if not SCARY - every time a stereotype is discarded.

One schmuck's empath may be another schmuck's emo-parasite, but if contrarian opinion is correct we obviously need to fight the tyranny of Mitochondrial Fascism before those ubiquitous invisible Commies establish their Dictatorship Of The Microtariat & devour us all!

Great podcast. Btw, the president most certainly can commute the sentence of a service member. The president is in charge of the military. For example, Richard Nixon commuted the sentence of 2Lt. William Calley, who took part in the My Lai Massacre and was convicted by the military justice system.

I always like a little bluegrass when it comes to religion and empathy.

You do realize that Bob, Chez, Blue Gal and Droneglass on the same podcast will be considered a veritable Vortex of Evil among the Greenbots? Heads may explode. I worry for poor Lumpy, I really do*...

*I kid because I love, Lumpy. Empathy!

One thing that seems peculiar to the US, and the Bible Belt in particular is that some of these churches are treated as an extension of the country club, and social status is dictated by which one a person attends.

I do have to wonder what the response of those who attend such churches would be to hearing that Rhonda Vincent song...

Get paid to write a short story in the Robert Heinlein universe.

OK, not quite yet. Amazon has started a paid fanfic portal called Kindle worlds, but they're pretty lame: Twilight and things like that.

To request a world you send themfeed back from your amazon account and they will consider it. I requested Robert Heinlein, Larry Niven, and John Scalzi.

If you could take a look, and if it meets your high standards, you could send a feedback and mention it during science fiction university?

Heard back from Kindle Worlds

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Kindle Worlds!

We are currently working hard to increase our selection of Worlds. The selection in
the Kindle Worlds website are the only ones available for now; while we don't have
an exact time estimate, I can assure you there will be more options available in the
near future!

I have passed along your comments to the appropriate team as feedback as these will
be extremely helpful as we plan for further improvements! Kindle Worlds wouldn't
exist without authors, and your feedback serves an important role in helping us to
improve our platform and provide a better service. We always like to hear from our
authors, and we're glad you took the time to write to us.

In case if you have more questions, or any kind of doubts, do not hesitate to
contact us back , we are here to help and we will gladly assist you!
