Perhaps the clearest left-right distinction is that liberals' tropism is toward a complex surplus society while conservatives' tropism is toward a rudimentary subsistence society. Both are a lot more driven by instinct than either wants (or dares) to admit or accept ... & THAT is why we can't have nice things.

You said it, widget!

Good morning, Mr. Glass.

Almost sounded during the podcast like some on the Left have decided to treat fracking like the Right treats abortion...

"Sure, you can frack all you want! But first you'll have to jump through this here hoop, and then this much higher hoop, and then this flaming hoop...and we don't know who stuck inward-pointed knives into this other hoop, but you'll have to jump through that one too...AND you have to get through all of them in one jump...and..."

...which is actually kind of clever, I must admit.

Enjoy your weekend.

Yeah, its exactly like that. If the neighbor lady's abortion turned my water in to poison and caused an earthquake that damaged my house (personally speaking..the first it hasnt... yet, the second it certainly did, just last year)

Go look at a recent National Geographic spread on fracking in North Dakota, see how the oil industry works when there is no opposition to them whatsoever....

Anonymous 12:12 AM,

In the event I need to clarify myself, I wasn't comparing abortion itself to fracking. I was talking about possible approaches on how to deal with it...in effect, "If we can't make it illegal, let's make it impossible."

It was meant as admiration for the Left's tactic, IF that's what they're doing.
