Noted Political Journalist "Staggered" To Learn

That a Republican fabricated some stuff and then said it on the teevee.

Apparently Mr. Greenwald has navigated the world in such a way as to avoided paying attention to most Republican speeches, white-papers, debates, town hall meetings, radio talks shows, teevee talk shows, YouTube videos, screeeeechy public denunciations of the Kenyan Usurper, a couple of years of wingnut freakouts over "Death Panels", screeeeechy public denunciations of the Bill Clinton's murder of Vince Foster, screeeeechy public denunciations of evolution, screeeeechy public denunciations of the climate change "hoax" and so forth ad nauseum.

Sorry you had to lose that particular cherry to Peter King of all people, sport, but now you know: lying about shit at 180 decibels is sorta what they do now.

Meanwhile, at The Breitbart Collective -- who are now adding this story to their play list now that the IRS non-scandal is starting to rot and fall apart -- this is how the revelation that Peter King is a lunatic is being headlined:

GREENWALD ON NSA SNOOPING: POLS WANT ME ARRESTED FOR 'CRIME OF DOING JOURNALISM'

The Guardian reporter Glen Grenwald pushed back hard at politicians who are calling for his investigation and prosecution for his involvement in the NSA snooping scandal...

Note to the Breitbart Collective's "copy-editor" (Bwahahaha!) :  as the body of your story eventually reveals, what you are actually talking about at this point are the ravings of one, bitter, addled GOP Congressman which not a plural make and therefor does not constitute the actions of "Pols" or "Politicians" however hard you wish it did.

Yeah, yeah, sure...

But Droneglass!

Democrats are just as equally vapid, hypocritical, and wrong about everything that Republicans are vapid, hypocritical and wrong about, because Obamabot, #Change, and also because SHUT UP.

Also: Droneglass.

n1ck,

I actually agree with Greenwald that Democrats are just as hypocritical on several things. When it comes to foreign policy and the national security state, when it comes to the banks, I don't really see daylight between them.

The thing is, I don't really give a shit. I'm voting Democratic and support Democrats entirely because of social issues.

The issue with Greenwald is that he objects to the idea of a military and security entity. And since a functional military is one of the key components of a sovereign state and one of the most crucial jobs of a government is "prevent people from killing your people" you could say he objects to the concept of a government.

Earth to Greenwald, having a military is one of the most crucial functions of a government, shocker both sides understand that!

I have to concur with N1ck..
Droneglass's stubborn refusal to acknowledge how he is personally responsible for the evil of this Stalinistic regime is getting tiresome.
Also, I think he bombed Cambodia or something.....
Get your shit together!

Obot!!

The real purpose of the "military and security entity" of the contemporary USA is no longer to defend Us The Peasants of the USA, but rather to force weak countries to accept brutal exploitation by the transnational Malefactors Of Great Wealth, who own the govt. of the USA and both of its major political parties.

Terrorism is the violent resistance to such exploitation by the MOGW.

The USA will never be free from terrorism unless and until We The People find some way to take our government, and therefore its "military and security entity", back from the MOGW, so we can restore the "entity" to its proper functions.

Is Peter King the only pol that wants Glenn Greenwald arrested? Howabout Dianne Feinstein? Really there's no point going to that Breitbart cesspit.

@ZRM: Well, the USA actually was defending itself against aggression in WW2.

Other than that--yeah, good point.

I'm still waiting for it to be reported - as straight news in mainstream non-opinion programming - that republicans are habitual liars. By all means, let it come 30 years too late. The only other option is 40 years too late.

Debatable. I am not a historian, but I am pretty sure Germany never attacked the US.

And it could also be argued that even then, it was corporate interests that benefited from the whole war machine funding. Yes, yes, there was the creation of a whole middle class and all, but I suspect that was more because corporations were so unused to the overflowing vats of money that some of slopped out to the lower classes.
