The Canadians did this better as a poem, In Flanders Fields...

At least the warmongers of Canada had the sense of deceny to actually fight as opposed to being Chicken Hawks like ET Benson and John Wayne...

Didn't Spiro look grand riding in his chariot?

A cult "hero" and a cult leader. Combined combat experience (without cameras rolling...)? Zero. Both wrapped in a flag. One carrying a cross. Chicken hawk irony at its finest.

Janet--that was Spiro Agnew in the chariot? Wonderful, wonderful. I saw the Boris Karloff forehead and got Hafez al Assad stuck in my mind, but WTF was he doing in a Roman war chariot in Vietnam? Thanks for clarifying.

Drifters, thanks just in general, that is some piece of film there.

Just because my monitor is failing, doesn't mean I want to put my fist all the way through it; therefore, I'm not going to watch that. I'm just going to link to, by any truly objective measure, the best writing ever inspired by John Wayne: Hunter S. Thompson's left-handed whipsong to a Hammerhead Shark that learned to walk on its hind legs.

I prefer to remember John Wayne for "The Searchers" and "True Grit" and not his idiotic politics.
