Whether you agree or disagree with the panelists, this is what American public affairs teevee can look like.

No, really.

So much of public affairs teevee is Beltway "Both Sides" schlock only  because the people who bankroll and profit from it insist that it be that way and will virtually never countenance letting any contending POV into their sandbox.

For example, history will little note nor long remember that during the final days of the collapse Bush Regime, the wheels were not merely coming off of the Conservative clown car, but flying off, blowing up like bricks of firecrackers and sending political shrapnel in every direction,  In fact things  got so bad -- so flagrantly, serially and publicly bad -- that professional establishmentarian testicle cozy David Gregory was forced to have an actual, icky, "fuck"-using Liberal on his Puppet Show -- some guy named "Markos"...something...who proceeded to beat that nice, polite fertilizer-spreading machine from the DLC  -- Harold Ford Junior -- like the proverbial rented mule (this exchange took place after all but one of the Democratic candidates for President in 2008 had just A) shown up at Netroots Nation in Chicago to court the Dirty Fucking Hippies, and B) blown off Ford's Centrist DLC circle-jerk hoedown):

So take a wild guess which one of these two gentlemen gets invited for return visits to "Meet the Gregory" (and it's delinquent Republican little brother, "Morning Joe"), year after year after year, anytime he has a book to sell or a bad idea to share with the other toddlers, and which one does not?

From Meet the Gregory, February 24, 2013:
FMR. REP. HAROLD FORD JR. (D-TN): I’ll let Bob Woodward in the White House litigate who’s right on that matter, but disappointment abound, I would probably agree a little more with Peggy [Noonan] than she suspects...
If true, Harold, then Our Lady of the Tesseract Pocket Flask is possibly the last person left on Earth who does not know that the central pillar of your political identity is agreeing -- instantly, feverishly, desperately, fawningly, gag-reflex-suppressingly -- with everything every drab sack of Centrist shit has ever had to say about anything.

And will history note who came to the GOP's rescue in their moment of peril?

The guy who insisted on bipartisan votes, filled his cabinet with neoliberals and goopers, refused to prosecute any of them for their crimes, and went after whistle-blowers instead?
