...And Speaking of Israel

Jennifer Rubin once again proves that there is absolutely no subject which she cannot chain to her bumper and drag into her WaPo AIPAC Wonderland.

We begin with one more Conservative plea to frog-march Crazy Uncle Liberty back down into the GOP root cellar so the Right can go back to pretending that it's not completely dependent on biggits and crazies for their victories and livelihoods. The astute reader will note that this plea is slungshot around Ramesh Ponnuru's article in the NYT, because being in the NYT makes Mr. 'The Party of Death: The Democrats, the Media, the Courts, and the Disregard for Human Life' a Very Serious Person!
Conservatives need to keep up with the times

Ramesh Ponnuru makes a compelling case that conservatives fixated on President Ronald Reagan need to recognize that we are not in the 1980s.

That this must actually be stated is a sign of how paralyzed conservatives have become; too often they cling to the past, or a version of the past, refusing to address the concerns of our own time. ...
Then, a wide, fishtailing swing around "A equals B, and B equals C, therefore":
Second, the same admonition Ponnuru issues about domestic policy is also relevant to foreign policy.
And suddenly we're once again cruising along Ms. Rubin's favorite stretch of the West Bank:
In sum, the Middle East is not the Middle East that Bush left or many hoped for, and it requires sober calculation and determination to wield influence on behalf of the United States, our allies and secular democracy advocates. A policy for improving the West Bank from the ground up, a robust effort to oust Bashar al-Assad sooner rather than later and ongoing support for the building of civil society throughout the region are in order.
Look, I'm perfectly aware that there are members of my tribe who cannot make it through the act of ordering a chili dog without squeezing in a reference to 800 years of British oppression!

But as a rule, those people are not given op-ed columns in major American newspapers.

"a sign of how paralyzed conservatives have become"

The fun part is when a Fox News viewer reads this and thinks he's getting both sides because this article was superficially negative towards conservatives. These people pride themselves at being independent because they attacked Bush for being insufficiently conservative.
