You know, DG. You and BG have talked from time to time about how many "listens" your podcasts get. But I think your counts are off. Because I often listen with someone else. Sometimes more than one someone else.

I have all your shows -- well, maybe 80 of 'em -- on my iPhone. And when I'm in the car I pick a random one and start listening.

And just the other day I came upon that GREAT episode you did where you have the three skits -- the one with Mrs. Gingrich, the Center for Centrist Studies, and the White House Office of Liberal Outreach, or whatever. Those really were HILARIOUS. I just LOVE hearing you play a character.

But you stopped doing them after that! I'm glad to see you and BG are thinking of starting up with it again.

Which brings me to another topic:

I have loooong thought you guys should excerpt 2, 3, 4, 5 minute segments from your podcast and put them on YouTube with your ProLeft image for a background. This would make it easy for people to embed some of the short, punchy gems in their blogs or send them around by email. It's much more difficult to get people to commit to a much longer podcast if they have never heard it before.

You guys have literally hundreds of those pithy segments which could be spun off and presented in a digestible bite sized format for mass consumption, and this, in turn, could increase exposure to your names and your podcast, hopefully drawing more people in to listen to the whole thing.

To be honest, I've thought about doing this myself: getting some WAV editing software and Windows Movie Maker, or something, and each week extracting one or two short bits that I think are particularly pithy, making them into a "video" with the ProLeft artwork for a background, and throwing it up on my YouTube channel.

Why haven't I?

Well, (a) I have no idea how to do that, though I know it could be done and could figure it out, and (b) I have almost no time to spend on anything except working and surviving, and (c) I didn't have your permission.

But it's all a moot point, now, because you guys can do it!

Cheers. And best regards. Thanks for all the podcasts. They're one of the highlights of my week.

Bits, off the top of my head, I'd love to see in bite-size YouTube form:

The thing about unregulated capitalism being like a nuclear reactor without control rods.

Or, shit, the one about the GOP being like a nuclear reactor.

Or, one of my favorites, the one about how every snake handling teabagger thought he was an expert on Islam ten days after 9/11 even though he'd never been more than 3 miles from his double wide in Sisterfuck, Arkansas.

Or, another great one: The story about the guy who burned down his trailer because he was enraged about the water bill. DG: "You've captured the 3 elements of a great story: A, B, and trailer trash."

But BG had a serious point: "I know some progressives like that!" (I.e., lefties who would rather burn it all down than accept an imperfect president who's still better than the alternative.)

That segment probably ran 4 or 5 minutes, and would make for a great YouTube clip.

I could go on and on like this, really. There's gold in them thar hills!

Not a bad Tina Brown. She's not entirely awful, but I dread her promo interviews on NPR...
