Fundraiser Day Three: Our Mr. Brooks...

BOBO_Brown
...takes on Science Fiction.

Oh boy!

I will be out spreading resumes around most of the day, but more on this exciting development later on.

Also, this week's Professional Left podcast should be up in a little bit.

Meanwhile, perhaps you would enjoy this little nosh from 2010.

Same Mr. Brooks, and the same general topic.
A Tinkle In Time

...
I have no particular brief against David Brooks' column today ("American Power Act") in terms of its overall message:
"The road to energy innovation is sure to be messy, but the U.S. is going to have to develop energy sources that are plentiful and clean."

In fact it is nothing if not amusing as hell to see one Conservative expatriate after another adopt the rhetoric and share the broad vision of History's Greatest Villain -- James Earl Carter --

30 years after they shit all over him, and their beloved St. Ronald Reagan both literally and figuratively ripped the solar panels off the White House and sold our collective futures down the river to OPEC.
...

Fundraiser is on and the dough goes here!

If Brooks wants to find that critical element to restore innovation in the wider historical context, how's this: Pay The Damned Scientists. Fund the projects and let's see what happens. The last 40 years have seen the big government programs wither on the vine, unless it's part of the Defense, or it's got a big corporate contributor like the Internet. It's like reducing science expenditures may have had some sort of backlash effect or something.

Not that DB has every done more than cluck his tongue at the problem. Didn't even ask a scientist what might be the problem, but just asked a few business guys and writers for their opinions. Not a shred of research on his part. I don't know why he wants a super fast airplane, when his job is so easy he can do it with his left hand in the privacy of his home.
