Well Into Their 117th Trimesters

David Brooks and David Frum both suddenly decide they really don't want to keep Reagan's baby.

Earlier today Mr. Brooks placed his order for a political D&C through pursed-lips and a frowny face by rewriting Reality's Timeline so that he was somehow never a part of the 30-year lead-up to the Giant Pig Party Implosion at the end of the Empire we see bearing monstrous fruit all around us.

Mr. Frum, more comically, decided instead to pretend that the person most responsible for the Giant Pig Party Implosion at the end of the Empire...was the Reasonable-to-a-Fault Democratic President! Because he has so far failed to put Frum's Republican Party down like the sick animal that it is, and failed to clean up the toxic partisan sewer that David Frum helped create..despite Mr. Frum and every other Conservative douchebag in America being warned to beware just exactly these consequences for the last 30 years by two generations of Liberals:
Obama's Weakness Made Debt Crisis Worse
...
"Then, as Republicans discovered the power of their new tool, the president decided to assume they were bluffing, that they would never actually do anything so reckless. Waking up to the reality of the situation too late, he commenced bargaining by offering what he assumed would be an irresistible deal. Wrong again. The Republicans did resist. So Obama offered an even better deal — which predictably only whetted the GOP appetite for still more.

...
Instead, he appealed again and again to Republicans’ spirit of responsibility. Good luck with that."
Which is such a triumph of pure, lying, cornered-rat-desperate Republican anti-logic that it really deserves to be featured as an exhibition sport in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Both Mr. Frum and Mr. Brooks are sticking to the most tried-and-true method of Beltway Insider lying -- namely, heroically disavowing any knowledge whatsoever of their own previous and well-documented actions:

All they know is, somebody had better come along God damn soon and rid them of these Ogre Babies that they somehow have growing in their tummies for reasons they dare not explain.

I guess it's a good thing neither of them live in Kansas.

Well, at least the smarter ones see what a Fukushima this will be for the Republican Party. That's something, right? Right?

Nevermind....

For there to be a "Fukushima for the Republican Party" these problems must be overcome:

1) voter apathy over feckless Obama
2) corporate control over voting infrastructure
3) SCOTUS Inc. (via Prairie2)
4) partisan media
5) flourishing resurgence of historical American anti-intellectualism ... now endangering rationality itself
6) flourishing resurgence of integral American racism

Note, of course, the 2008 pre-Fukushima, Fukushima of the Republican Party and how well that turned out.

Presumably the Democrats campaign slogan for 2012 will be: "Give us back Obama AND 90% majorities in BOTH houses ... THEN we'll see what we can REALLY do!!!"

Brooks: "I thought I could do it just until I needed glasses."

For those think the problem began before Reagan:

Good morning, Mr. Glass. Long-time podcast listener, first-time poster here. Anyway...

"Well, you see, Driftglass...your mistake here is that you're assuming I am this man "Frank-en-stein". As it turns out, my name is "Frahnk-en-steen". We're two totally different people. So I have nothing to apologize for."

Even some folks in our usually-flaccid mainstream media are starting to point it out.

Frum has been getting nailed by his own commenters for trying his best to make the default hostage-situation Obama's fault. I imagine Brooks is doing little better.

Our hapless knocked-up Blunder Twins might want to consider shacking up with their "burdens" in the wilderness until this all blows over. As a martial-arts master once said: if your trick no work, you better run.

Probably very brisk business in up-armoring limos going on right about now.

Driftglass-
While I normally frown upon nuptial unions (at least those potentially involving myself), I do believe that your work has reached new and dizzying heights since your recent betrothal. But, then again, perhaps I should instead be sending kudos Blue Gal's way for making an - even more brutally - honest man of you,
(Or maybe it's just that Brooksy and Frumpster are reaching levels of cognitive dissonance that even I might be able to someday lampoon)

Nonetheless, the two Davids should cheer up -- Michigan J. Teabagger can really sing.

@loveandlight: another excellent link. Thanks for that!

And let's not forget another former fellow traveler that has since left the road to go on to more truthful climes, David Stockman, who has since declared that the "trickle down theory" was nothing more than another "Big Lie".

It seems that all of the rats are deserting a sinking ship. Oh, if they only would have just stayed on board and drowned...

@loveandlight: It would be pretty to think so. Unfortunately, I tend to agree with Paul Krugman:

Past experience tends to make me a tad bit cynical...
