Helter Skelter, Inc.

So it turns out that it only takes one generation for racist megalomaniac ravings about a coming race-based apocalypse to go from being the paranoid battle plan of one of America's most infamous mass murders...

Glenn Beck explains our coming race war

by Dave Weigel

I mentioned in my post about Megyn Kelly that Glenn Beck, too, had been running sensationalist stories about the basically irrelevant New Black Panthers. Here's some of his July 7 show on the Panthers to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. He's talking about the Reconstruction period and assaults on black voters from the Ku Klux Klan, comparing the military-garb-wearing NBPP to racists of the past.

Reconstruction. They aimed to intimidate Republican voters of both races. They sought to obstruct radical Republican policies. Please don't just hear the Republican and Democrat in this. Please.

They wanted to restore the rule by native whites. Now the most violent racial clash was the Colfax Riot. Dispute was over the 1872 election, ended with Louisiana having dual governments at all level of politics.

Former slaves feared Democrats would seize power. They tried to take over Colfax. A massacre ensued. Fifty African-Americans were murdered after they already surrendered.

This is a horrific period of our time and our history, but we should know it so we don't repeat it. In 1874, organized white paramilitary groups formed in the Deep South. They intimidated and even killed black voters. Again, listen to this. A paramilitary group. White paramilitary. What does that mean?

That means people who are not in the military, but are dressed up. They were the Knights of the White Camellia, the white league. And they were among the early, really violent hate groups. Awful. Awful people.

The right here is the surrender of the Louisiana State House to the white league. That's the trouble. Whites, many of them Democrats, joined these terrorist organizations when they began losing power to the radical Republicans, both white and black.

Let me show you a cartoon, OK? This is a political cartoon from "Harper's Weekly," October 1874. The artist is showing here - they're mocking the white league and the Klan for making conditions of freed slaves worse than slavery themselves.

Here is the KKK and here is the militant white league. Got it? Now, 100 years later, have we changed? Have we changed? This is what we were trying to stop.

Anymore now, I just despair. We cannot win. Against the tsunami of cash to be made pandering to imbeciles by stroking their lizard brains, we are defenseless.
Witness the skyrocketing ratings of ClusterFox, et al.
I notice the mockery I use on whack jobs is beginning to lose its steam. My heart isn't in it anymore. Just goin' thru' the motions, lookin' for a new spark.
Shiiiiiiiiiit....

And be covered as serious news on all major networks.

Exactly why I'd move out of the country if possible.

People are too crazy and un- or mis-educated for mere words to penetrate their addled minds now.

And you should be in the South.

It would be great if instead of worrying about how much stuff we can accrue, we cared about our fellow citizens, i.e. Americans. I know, that sounds sappy. But, even if it were just one time, it would be great if the Right would do the right thing. I don't care if it were health care reform, unemployment benefits or war or any combination of the three. Just pretend to care about something other than your bank account (regardless of how it is filled) and image.

Ah, but they will Esteev, they will.

Like Nixon after Johnson, they will pretend to care about the deficit and ending the war and a whole host of things that we'll know they don't care a fig about - and the Tea Partyers will lead the way in staunch credulity.

And the proles will probably eat it up.

Be careful what you ask for, friend.

For we will surely get it.

Ann Coulter may well be the already-announced leader of these troops.

Holy.....man, how can this..'group', as I loosely describe these 'people', even exist? How can they be part of our serious discourse? How can they stomp their heels and get what they want? Why do people ever pay attention to them? How can they continue to exist and affect the way things go in our country?
How...how are these...things?
Terrifyingly evil beings are screaming to re-take the nation after eight of the worst years imaginable, and many people are saying 'give it back to them!'

Please, forgive my lack of experience or knowledge in this, as I'm only 21, and have really only been paying attention to politics since oh, 9-11 or so.

It just feels to me that we've finaly gotten out from under the giant evil thumb of the right, elected a bright well spoken leader, and yet the right is still in control, via fillibusters and ludicrous tea parties and Fox.

I just don't know.

Steve, your age and interest make me hopeful for the future.
But always remember this: money is the mother's milk of politics.
The teaparties, filibustering, ad nauseam are simply political theatre for the masses. Distractions, sideshows for the dullards.
The truth? Follow the money.

Nothing else rules.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Good to be of a like mind regarding this humanoid, D.
His madcap...perhaps even drug-fueled televisual antics may lure me away from other pressing interests yet.

Thanks Denny, bookmarked the site for reading in the morning when I'm actualy awake.

Off topic some, but am I seriously the youngest person who reads here? That gives me less hope for my generation than I had before, which is saying alot...
